Just watching this showpiece final.
Wasn’t bothered about supporting either side wanted to remain neutral because it’s the women and not the men so doesn’t come with the same baggage.
10 minutes in I’m already wanting Germany to cuff them not because of the team but the two female commentators.
They are biging up England and saying they should have a nibble at the Germans and let them know that they’re there all that sort of crap. Literally wanting them to bully the Germans then complain when two of their players get booked for bad tackles.
Male or female they just can’t help themselves. 😔
 
Not that I'm bothered about womans football...as it's terrible to watch.

But Germany to win on penalties please. 😀
 
The standard isn't exactly great is it, England player doing a lot of throwing themselves around and getting fouls from them.
 
No it’s not a good standard passing is the poorest part of the womens game but some well taken goals and although I’m not a big fan of it it has got a lot better to watch.

Thank your lucky stars you don't have to suffer English BBC TV. For weeks before the final, we had the build up, and they had it won before a ball was kicked. And then we had the terrible commentary and the totally overblown reaction - world changed forever....generations of young girls inspired....catalyst for transformation. And today it's wall to wall coverage of the celebrations in Trafalgar Square.....70 million viewers world wide......and best of all "These girls are role models"....blaa blaa blaa ...women's football truly entering the mainstream......blaa blaa.....
Best moment for me was one of the "role models" clearly mouthing on camera, in close-up "Fuck off, you fucker" to a German opponent when taking exception to a tackle. What every young girl needs to aspire to. 😂
 
I sat down to see the news headlines on ITV having been out all day.
Pleasantly surprised to have to endure only 15 minutes of triumphalism.
Only Monday though....

This is what the Westminster politicians never twigged.
Getting themselves in a tizzy about the prospect of Scottish independence when all they had to do since 1966 was gag their sports media (football mainly) and we probably wouldn’t have been that bothered

Aye. Rabid nationalist McGlashan, the brilliant character from the Absolutely TV series back in the day would agree. Who could forget his first novel about the guy who invents a time machine, travels back to 1966, and shoots Geoff Hurst. A classic, alongside his rant about the World Cup draw.
