Born in number 29 the Avenue Jimmy, they'll no get attacked in that street...I've since moved.Riding of the Marches today. Rat bairn just phoned. Apparently they are getting through Gracemount at a gallop before they get attacked.
They will be heading down the Avenue very shortly.
brexit jimmy. It's been well stripped back this year. It used to take nearly 30 mins for all the horses to pass.
Thought yi meant Gracemount Avenue
Businesses are never considered in Edinburgh, it’s like they are very low down on the cities priorities… As you say, construction vans treated like vermin in respect of very much needed parking! Heavy duty deliveries, pubs? Just get them to roll all the kegs 200 yards down the pavement….I was watching a couple of builders vans yesterday trying to load up a job on Minto Street. Fully up on the pavement because of those arsehole cycle lanes.
Got me to thinking that the arseholes in the council who dream up those obstacles should be made to donate months worth of labour with building companies.
My mate owns a wood burning stove company. Imagine some simpering councillor trying to carry a cast iron stove a couple of hundred yards from the van to the job then carry it up two flights if stairs.
Or 40 sheets of plasterboard. Or twenty boxes of tiles. Six tubs of paint. Loads of power tools. Twenty bags of plaster.
I think the twats would soon change their tunes.
But everybody can cycle to work or get the tram!Look at the chaos of the new Libby school Stu. All the works vans have been told they can't use the Nest car park.
Every bit of space now has workies cars and vans. Maybe a wee bit of foresight might have tippled that building workers need transport.
The fuckers in the council know nothing mate, know nothing about the logistics needed to carry out work.
Saying that it's good training being an arsehole councillor to becoming an arsehole politician.
Now that folk who actually work for a living seem to be frozen out of politics.
That's some hill

Widnae be saying that if yi had plasterboard and sheet timber tae carry 800 yards. It's a pain in the ass but it's not the end of the world having to walk a bit in most circumstances.
They probably think they could cycle, with about 100kg + tools and 400kg materialsLook at the chaos of the new Libby school Stu. All the works vans have been told they can't use the Nest car park.

Jack, that is simply not even possible with most builders, tools, materials. You can’t foresee every single tool and equipment and materials you will need for most days…I was a delivery van man, the main deliveries were in central Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. I mind there was one drop in Glasgow where I had to park about 800 yards away from where I could park illegally but reasonably. Just had to use a barrow thing if there were heavy boxes.

A lot of vehicle drivers don't seem to be able to walk the length of themselves and don't give a shit about other road users or pedestrians.

Especially if they work for the Scottish Government in which case the tram comes near enough right to the doorBut everybody can cycle to work or get the tram!

That's why I said in most circumstances. In most circumstances it won't be bulky building stuff.Jack, that is simply not even possible with most builders, tools, materials. You can’t foresee every single tool and equipment and materials you will need for most days…
Some people just don’t realise what’s involved with doing anything from brickies to plasterers… a mass of tools and material constantly
Cannae mind the name of the councillor back in the day but the 41 bus was given a new route. Right past their door. And as the bus goes up the mound right to their 'work'.Especially if they work for the Scottish Government in which case the tram comes near enough right to the door

They just park, take the fine and load the amount on to the customers bill.I was watching a couple of builders vans yesterday trying to load up a job on Minto Street. Fully up on the pavement because of those arsehole cycle lanes.

Imagine the traffic gridlock if parking was unlimited. The fundamental problem is that we live in a very successful historic city. Tradespeople would have an absolute nightmare if city gridlock was routine and widespread throughout the city during the working day.Parked in Bread Street today £8 per hr.
I find the city is gridlocked a good part of the day. Roadworks just seem to appear.Pp

Rush hours can be bad, but no danger is the city, even the city centre, gridlocked all day. Parking charges and semi-0decent public transport certainly help, allowing trades professionals to get around the place relatively easily. I'm up near Lauriston Place just now and you could park 50 white vans if you wanted.I find the city is gridlocked a good part of the day. Roadworks just seem to appear.
To be fair a lot of building workers miss the worst of the road traffic because it's usually an 8 bells start.
But parking is a nightmare as you can't feed the meter for a full day.
When I was working down in Fulham last year it cost £14 I think to park for the day.
