Edinburgh roads

Well left hand side the dark car looks like it's parked over the wee prefabs driveway.

So it's either white or silver. Or just take those two as an example.

Lot of us auld yins live in the flats, maisonettes and prefabs in Craigour.

It's a trek to get to the bus stop on Old Dalkeith Road.

And the dafties are back....

So the two motors on the left are in the same positions as yesterday suggesting residents.
Different motor on the right suggesting the car in that position is the arsehole but a different arsehole form yesterday.

Nope. The two motors on the left and the one on the right were away by 6 bells last night

But the one on the right has moved up slightly. The bus managed to get through after a wee bit of manoeuvring.

I know we all text and ft and even email each other nowadays but can nae fukkr just put a note under the arsehòle's windscreen wipers to let them know the Hampden roar?

They probably will at some point. There was a daftie that parked right on the bus stop.

When I came hame my neighbour had put a big note on the car telling them that they were indeed dafties (or words to that affect)

Being so close to the hospital ambulances are hammering up and down the road constantly.

Avoid Gilmerton and Lasswade Road (coming into Edinburgh) Station Road as well.

The traffic on Lasswade Road is from the junction at Captains Road down past the Lasswade bypass slip road. Then about another mile from there.

Aye it's a mare, traffic backed up all along Station Road and back onto Drum Street. No school run for us today thankfully, but tomorrow could be interesting.. 😩

BTW I picked my lassie up at the crossroads this morning as she stays in Drum Street. She said there was folk standing at the bus stop waiting. She telt them the road was closed but they didnae move.

It'll no be onto Drum Street Kev, but it will be doon Gilmerton road tae the bypass. All thats needed is a bump on the bypass and there will be gridlock.

Aye that's what I meant mate, drove to the Co-Op this morning and a 5 minute journey took half an hour

IMG_3120.pngMy bus stop from yesterday morning, car went right through it getting chased from the cops as the story goes.
Also hit a bus, not sure what time it happened but thank god it was a bank holidayss as is a very busy bus stop in the mornings. Bus stop at erskine homes on gilmerton rd23d69da9-0025-4ec5-9cd1-3121a909f166.jpeg

Think a young geezer on the bus had to go to the royal infirmary

So. Drove my wife into work yesterday. Western Approach Road closed at Murrayfield so had to divert onto Gorgie Road. Took an age to turn left at end of Westfield Road. Robertson Avenue closed on right and more roadworks further on. Roadworks outside Cineworld.
On way back, turned off Western Approach onto Slateford. Stuck for 15 minutes as 4 way temporary traffic lights at Shandon Place. Finally get past and end up on Longstone Road. Contraflow there too at the Sainsbury's. Took almost an hour to get from Lawnmarket to Carrick Knowe. Every route had temporary traffic lights and roadworks. Now I know why I rarely drive, except to the football.
🙄

Send them down to The Wisp, I moved slightly to avoid one pothole on my nearside and thought I'd hit a trench on the other side. Easier to see them when it was all dried up later.

But they shout from the rooftops about the millions they’ve spent on cycle lanes🙈 an utter disgrace…. The danger of driving on Edinburgh roads is shocking…. Edin council - but we’ve got good cycle lanes in certain parts of the town 🙈

Actually cyclists need good roads too. Cycling along roads avoiding potholes is really dangerous. You swerve and maybe go into the line of a vehicle or you get thrown off and who knows what happens.

We need a proper solution to the cycling problem imo. Choking the roads in the name of cycle paths is a mess, not least on ones scarcely used by cyclists.

I’m no town planner but surely there is a way to create a cycle network that largely bypasses roads and is routed through parks, old railway routes and the like?

If that was done I’d be more likely to do more cycling myself. Cars And bikes sharing is no fun whichever role one is in at the time.

Well one of the controversial issues in Edinburgh is the potential for the Roseburn path, formed from an old railway line, to be used for the tram extension. I can see both sides tbh.

I’m not familiar with the route so don’t know about the spacing in that particular area, but your comment inspires the thought that with a bit of joined up thinking, cycle routes could be implemented in parallel to tram routes. They take up so much space anyway, that running a cycle path alongside is probably only incrementally disruptive, and it could be wrapped up in the build for scale economies.

What we can’t do is bring Edinburgh’s road network to an increasing standstill. I know some fitter than thou cyclists disagree, but a city built on hills is never going to be a predominantly cycling city, anymore than one in a Scottish climate will have a thriving cafe culture.

These things are the hallmarks of a Pygmy political class who are allergic to difference and specifics in general, and seemingly capable only of copying rather than innovating.

Most cyclists are not using these cycle lanes that Edinburgh Council are spending tens & tens of millions of pounds on. Their reasoning is that there's too much debris in them. And apparently the debris is generated from these Edinburgh Council street cleaning vehicles that clean up against street kerbs.
