Value for money wise it cant be beaten imo. We had a fortnight for two in an all inclusive with brilliant facilities, unlimited drink and excellent food for !500 which when you add in the length of the flight , I thought was superb.

The downside is of course that with the Dominican being a 2nd or 3rd world country the people bringing you this luxury live in corrugated tin roof huts and only have electricity for certain hours each day. And with that comes the knock on effect that any tourist however ordinary their UK lifestyle is, over there is viewed as wealthy and is a target for robbing by certain sections of the local community. Our hotel was in a fenced off complex with armed guards on horseback patrolling the perimeter fence. Visits off site were all organised excursion stuff.

If your happy with being in a bit of an enclosed environment id recommend the Dominican but if you like to head off on your own and do the exploring bit its certainly something we wouldnt have felt safe doing.

There's a single guy from one of my locals goes quite a lot.

This time he found himself some company for the evening ;) Didn't cost that much either apparently.

She leaves in the morning and he gets a phone call from the gate keeper folk:

Is it OK to let this woman go, he's asked.

Err yes, he says, why?

Just like to check there's no money or passports missing.
