Was looking for some replacement styli for my Shure M44G carts and, after a reasonably tedious search, found this UK website doing them cheaper than everyone else + free UK shipping.

That's different from all the other sites I've used, even when you spend a right swedge, most still want you to pay for the courier.

Anyway, as it wasn't the first (or 10th) thing to be thrown up in the search, I thought it worth passing round. Not checked their other prices yet.

Cheers for that, I've been looking for a good pair of headphones to save up for.
My good set are astounding but they are in-ears. I tend to just use others' over-ears or my budget Sennheisers which are okay(ish) but they're incredibly painful for extended use and there's even less noise reduction than my superb in-ears.

It's not practical to keep scrounging the good pairs when I need them nor do I like doing this so any advice would be great seeing as you have probably had plenty more pairs in your time! :giggle: My budget will range between 100-200 but might be convinced to 300.

I was offered a pair of HDJ-1500s for 50 but I've never tried them yet.

Believe it or not, but my Audio Technicas I've had for about 3 years are excellent. Over ear. Hinged in all the right places to allow the things to be on one ear or both. Won't be anything like your in ear ones. They were about 130 when I bought them. I used them for production too. They got excellent reviews on Scratchworx. Only downside is the cable is wired in i.e. non detachable. Not been an issue in 3 years so it's cool. Will find out the model. Very comfy too.

My in-ears are the mid-range Monster Turbine PROs and they're just as good as a couple of Shures I've tried that were almost double the price. The sound quality is untouchable although Monster go a bit mad with gimmicks and fancy-looking but ultimately crap extras. You get a lifetime warranty for a replacement pair too. I was brought up using Technicas with an undetachable cord but they were so comfortable to use compared to my dodgy choices since.

Iv used a lot of different types but have been using Sennheiser HD25s for years now. They are expensive but all parts are replaceable and have industry standard sound. Doubt I would use another pair now.

I've not tried them. I've had lots of Sennheisers though and they've all been great. They seem to be able to produce excellent sound no matter what amount you spend, even right down to the 15 in ear iPod ones: AMAZING value, almost as good as the Sony MDR in ear iPod ones which are closer to 45.

I always found the Sennheisers to be more bass heavy and a little muddy at higher volumes. Do the HD25s suffer from this at all? I also found the middles & trebles weren't as crisp. But the most I've spent on Sennheisers is 60 so that may well be a factor.

Most of the presenters at the radio use sennies, the young lad who does the production stuff has HD25s and swears by them.

Nah mate the HD25s are a really clean sound. Lightweight as well so perfect for mixing really.

I also use in-ear Sennheisers for my iPod. Great sound as well.

Having a quick deek on the web I'm seeing a few different versions of the HD25.

HD25-1 MKII which look to have the biggest cans
HD25 MKII which have smaller cans
HD25 SP II which have a 3 metre cable
HD25-C MKII which have a coiled cable

Any tips on which is the latest, best etc.?

I have both the MK IIs, smaller and bigger cans. The bigger ones are better, also have a better head piece. Not a huge difference really though for the sake of 30 or so.

If I'm there early enough on Saturday, would love to have a wee listen through them.

Update; got my styli yesterday. I ordered them on the 30th!

Also, they are doing a deal where you can get 20 off your first order if you spend 200. If only I'd known, I could got my styli for half price whilst ordering a set of those Sennheisers!
