Hardeep Singh Koli was done recently for sex offences. Not exactly high profile though and also he’s never been funny!

Comedians from the 80’s and 90’s… surely being racist and homophonic was a prerequisite?! Won’t be much of an expose if they name Bernard Manning, Jim
Davidson and Chubby Brown!

David Walliams is a strong possibility aye, Kevin Bridges I have heard enjoys some recreational collie dugs, shouldn’t be enough to see him cancelled though. Michael McIntyre 🙏🏻

It’ll all likely be a loadyshite!

It literally is about Russell Brand though.

He's already put out a denial video with the usual "completely untrue", "establishment agenda against me" excuses.

I'd imagine he's the creep that had the power to ruin careers of those who spoke out that Katherine Ryan was alluding to a few months back.

Where are you seeing the program being solely about Brand?

Sorry, I'd read this elsewhere and skimmed the tweet.

Has it been described as a mass expose anywhere else? The other articles I'd read suggested it was a career ender for one "top celeb".

Ah right. Potential culture war hornets nest if that's the case.

The racist, sexist, homophobic bit could be especially contentious if you're talking about private conversations, especially between people who are in the profession of testing boundaries of expression.

The actually illegal stuff will probably end up having less attention paid to it.

I understand the need for reporters to get stories but.

Is it not illegal to have knowledge of a serious crime and not report it to the police here and in the USA?

Why did all these women not report the crimes at the time or at the height of Me Too?

I never did like Brand. He can rot for all I care.

I don't like Russell Brand...don't care for stand-up comedy in general TBH.
As Jack says though, why has it taken this long for these women to come forward ?

Well this COULD be construed as a conspiracy theory but he HAS been rocking the boat about big pharma and the jabs.

And he does have a few followers.

Like the last two posters I'm no really that bothered about his fate but it does seem like it's taken a long time to take him to task.

6.6 million subscribers on Yatube. I just had a gander.

There were disorderly queues formed of folk wanting to shag this 'comedian' just as there always has been for pop and rock stars. Those in the queue throwing themselves to the front knew what they were doing. Unless they're under age I've no sympathy. Between cancellation and victim mentality I'm sick to the back teeth of it all. I'll watch tonight but unless there's some serious allegations of substance....

Why didn't they go straight to the police?
Everybody is supposed to be entitled to a fair trial without it all being reported beforehand

This is one of the most tone deaf posts I've seen
You're far better than that K

Funny how the Guardian's coverage omits the fact that Brand used to write a regular column for them 🙄

Not long ago he was celebrated as a wise libertine taking it to fuddie duddies like Peter Hitchens. I didn’t like him then and I don’t like him now in his ‘just putting it out there’ social media guru guise.

However, while I can believe this is very plausibly a case of that libertinism suddenly looking very old as the wind changes direction, I do share some of the unease that others have expressed. I guess we’ll see. Either way I expect to still dislike him at the end of it all.

Well, I just sicked up a bit.

Some fkd up replies on here, essentially blaming the women for being raped, or suggesting they're making it up because they didn't go straight to the police. With attitudes like that still prevalent, is it any wonder women often aren't inclined to report it?
I don't think anyone is blaming the women. I think asking why now to a reporter given the passage of time is a legitimate question.

It's an absolute minefield all round.

I fucking hate this argument.

Without going into too much detail, there was a serious sexual assault in my family in the 70s that went unreported. It was all to do with the victims fear of what would happen if they exposed the well respected guy that did it. That *&*^ went to his grave with more people thinking he was a pillar of the community than those who knew the truth about him.

Had the victim been given the opportunity of annonimity and the support of an external organisation they might have felt differently about their silence.

The Brotherhood is not happy

You suggested the victims were commiting a crime by not reporting it, which is a stage further.

Asking why they didn't report at the time isn't the insightful question you think it is, because the possible answers are obvious and numerous.
