Sorry to see he has gone. Along with Nelson Mandela and Steve Biko,if you were asked to name people who did as much as anyone to fight apartheid in South Africa Tutu would be right up there.I don't do religion, but Tutu came across as a decent man above anything else. The South African nation has lost a real leader, something they are in desperate need of.RIP.

To be fair Moaty if you asked anyone (of a certain age) to name anyone from Africa he'd be high on the list.

A guy that used his infectious smile to great effect although I suspect if you were negotiating with him he'd be impossibly polite, as hard as nails ... and defy you not to take his side. And smile!

The mud slinging has started allready from the centre right of Labour.Apparently he is now 'anti semitic' for pointing out that Israel is an apartheid racist state every bit as bad as South Africa was.

You have that all very wrong mate. It is left wing Jews and others who are disproportionatly being expelled by New Blarite Starmer and co who are pointing out their hypocracy. Left Jews have been expelled for saying what Tutu said, namely that Israel is an apartheid state.
