I see the "Celtic interested" rumour mill is starting up again.

Hibs should just come out and say he can go for £5m and not a penny less and that would put an end to the rumours.

Weegie papers like the herald are pushing the "the player would be keen on a move" pish presumably to try to unsettle him.

If true that Celtic are keen to sign him then I am surprised to say the least.
He has only in the latter part of this season broken through to be a first team starter, and it's arguable he would even have been that if Mulligan had not been seriously injured in January.
O'Neill won't be Celtic manager next season either, so you have to ask who would this be a signing for ?
£3 million would be great money for Chaiwa, but I would prefer we kept him for another season anyway and continue his development.

He has over 2 years on his remaining dealing and still has huge potential. Agree with Dub and bidding should start from £5 million.

I can't see Celtic being willing to pay that to a rival team in the same league as they generally try to undercut teams in Scotland. Different if he was playing in another league in Europe, they'd probably throw silly money to get him on a 4 year contract.

I would rather see him leave for nowt in 2 years than accept anything less than 3 million for him. Fuck those bastards

They'll offer a million plus some fuckin poultice they have lying around doing bugger all.
Think Kwon.

I'm sure I've said this before but Chaiwa will be looking for better than celtc when he moves on.

I still think this is one of the more bizarre rumours going, decent player but isn’t a stand out and isn’t even a nailed on starter when everyone is fit.

No issue though, I’d much rather they were after him than Mulligan.

Really is a weird rumour.

The only reason anyone would be after him already is it we nipped in front of them to sign him.
He's a good player, but he's no shown a consistency or efficiency that I'd expect to see him leave within abl year of signing

Still think he was the target in the Klidje deal, but I don't think there's competition like that for him.

I used to want him and Mulligan in midfield.
I'm not certain that works as a pair anymore. I think he'd be more effective at attacking midfield. But I wouldn't put him ahead of McGrath.

Weird one.

Luke McCowan for example? We already dodged that bullet once. Malky should tell them no player swaps thank you.
Of the 3 Dundee players that moved tae bigger clubs, McCowan rarely starts, Cameron has went on loan tae the Sheep, Mulligan has been the best of the 3. Hopefully we keep Chaiwa and Mulligan.
They 2 and McGrath along with the ever improving Felix and either Obita or Beardy at wing back, we should be ok.

I can remember him playing twice against us since, and he was the worst player on the park both times.
Sure he got subbed at half time on one of them.

Given up now he got the deal, made it attitude?

Wouldn't want him here. Not convinced he'd be hungry enough to prove a point.

He'll go down south.
Not good enough for the Smellies, but he won't be wanting to get paid his worth.

Surely all this transfer chat is down to Chaiwa's agent feeding stories to the Press rather than actual interest?

I don’t care who it is but we shouldn’t be selling any players to Celtic,Rangers or Hearts as our 3 main rivals. I’d actually go as far as to put it in a clause in all our player contracts. There’s literally hundreds of suitable clubs across Europe and in England we could sell to without entertaining the Glasgow Bigots or their Eastern Regional branch.
In saying that I don’t see why Celtic are looking at Chaiwa at this stage. Good player, tons of potential but still a lot to learn and not as yet a guaranteed starter for Hibs which makes him an odd choice for their usual “sign players from other clubs in the SPL and put them on the bench to weaken them” Modus Operandi.

The problem with the Ugly Sisters is that they think nothing of splashing £8m or so on relative unknowns from abroad, yet they want bargain basement prices from clubs in Scotland to “make up the numbers”. If Chaiwa thinks Celtic want to build a team around him, he’s in for a harsh lesson. He should be looking at the likes of John McGinn as a pointer on what is achievable on all levels. If Hibs have to be a stepping stone, it should be to something better than them.

Team Talk reckons Celtc could secure Chaiwa for £1m - £2m. He’s apparently one of seven targets for the managerless side. Hopefully Malky & Co have their answer ready.

Interesting they both come from the same agency.

I couldn’t imagine he’d like to go for Celtic with the form for them this season

Would take £20 for him, if the soapies are offering millions I’d bite the hand off the daft bastards.

The more clubs are looking at him, and not at Mulligan, the better for Hibs
