Celtc on the rocks!

Euro watch (non Hibs)

After a couple of minutes into the second half Ambrose starts the new season with same old trick.

Lincoln Red Imps 1-0 Celtic

Worst ever result in Europe (anywhere?) for a Scottish club

Possibly, although their pumping from Artmedia Bratislava was howling as well.... That said, our result against Malmo is the worst defeat of a Scottish club in a European game, so we shouldn't be too judgemental.

Big difference between Malmö and red imps tbf, this is the worst ever.

"There's no embarrassment" says Brendan.

Oops.

First mistake there old son.

Your supporters will be embarrassed to Gibraltar and back tomorrow morning when they go into their works. They don't really want to hear you say it isn't so

I'd take Henderson back but think there's a bit too much nostalgia on his abilities probably from his two cup winning free kicks and showing a great attitude and affinity for Hibs throughout his loan spell. He started the final on the bench for a reason as he was far from being the first name on the team sheet for midfield.

That said, after a disappointing start he did improve as the season went on which is understandable from a youngster getting good experience under his belt. I was expecting a lot more though from someone who Celtc had given a long deal and who had experience at Rosenborg.

A midfield consisting of Fyvie, McGinn, Henderson, McGeouch (and/or Bartley) under Stubbs was not my cup of tea due to them all playing centrally, none the most creative or offering a decent goals return - although Henderson was the one with a trick or two before getting crosses in. Lennon does seem to have already changed things in having some width in the team and encouraging midfielders to get into the box so I expect things to improve on that front regardless of personnel.

Who knows if Lennon is interested anyway if there is a chance of getting him. Celtc should really be getting him loaned to a higher level than Scotch 2nd tier to test him.

.

He was on the bench for the final because the formation did not suit him playing from the start - it was down to tactics and nothing more than that. Only Lewis and Super John McGinn made more appearances for the side last season? Doesn't suggest that he was far from being the first name on the team sheet. Even allowing for McGeouch and Fyvie's injuries he still played 10 more times than Marvin Bartley who did not face any time out through injury. Horses for courses.

He was our YPOTY as well. That was over a whole season and awarded before the cup final.

And, it shouldn't really need saying but, at the age of only 19, he was doing just fine and dandy.

Would take Hendo back in a heartbeat. Anyway, it's kinda getting off topic. Perhaps start another thread in the transfer window forum if you'd like to discuss with folks the possibility and merits of his return :thumbgrin

Well, it didn't take long for us to be reminded by the joyful press that there is a Weegie rivalry again this season...attached to their match report this was linked to by a Scottish national paper. And not the one you would expect it from...

The tweets in reply to this daftie show it all off in full marching season technicolour...

Radio Scotland, lunchtime.

I didn't hear which sevcovian apologist it was talking. He was going on about sevco signings, a true statement of intent to challenge celtc this year with a real possibility of winning the league.

I suppose tonight's result will only add to the zombie frenzy.

Lincoln Red Imps? Holy fcuk.

Absolutely delicious. Just delicious.
