Carbon Monoxide Detectors; Looking for some advice

Hoping someone on here might be able to help ?
My Carbon Monoxide detector started beeping tonight (loudly) every 40 seconds or so.
Assumed it was just batteries needing replaced, but I can't seem to get access to the batteries and the beeping is doing my head in.
Someone has told me that you can't actually get access to the batteries in these things, and in a situation like mines you have to basically rip it off the wall, order a new one and get it installed.
Anyone confirm this ?

I'm still here !.....it's a Pace Sensors Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
Model; CO-BG-01
Managed to flip the front casing over, but it looks pretty much impossible to get in to the get the batteries.

The unit will be sealed and tamperproof
It is guaranteed for six years including the battery so if yours is less than six years old I suggest you ask British Gas for another unit free of charge.
 
There should be a battery kill switch.

It's a standards thing these days with CO and smoke alarms. They normally have a wee lever thing that means once they're set up you can never access the battery again and just need to bin it when battery runs out and get a new one.

Kind of thought that would be the case.
Think i'll just bit the bullet and get a new one installed.
 
Here is a replacement for yours, 23 quid.
If you look at the box you will see a replacement date top right of the photo.
Your old unit should have one on it somewhere.
If it has expired replace it. The alarms appear to have chemicals in them that have a lifespan.

Nope.
Just going to take it off the wall and break the machine.
There was no installation date on it. I'll just get a new one.

Aye the whole unit should be replaced every 10 years now.

I'll sell you a new one if you get in touch!
