Never realised his death was so controversial at the time , did he merely drown in his pool ???

A few stories about it - smart money is on a builder called Frank Thorogood.

Done an article about him and his death for a mag a few years ago so re-visited it then, and believe it was him.

One of the things when you look at stars of the 60s and 70s is how many met an untimely end compared to nowadays.

And pretty incredible some of the ones that are still going strong

Mostly agreed 26. Just look how many. Off the top of my head Sid V, Janis J, Brian J, Gram Parsons, and many more.

It's the lifestyles these people lead.
A world of sex, drugs, alcohol, all on call, all there for you without asking.
Massive fame and the wealth that comes with it gets you all that, and many just can't handle it all.
Amy Winehouse for example never wanted to be famous. She always said she would have happily just sang in clubs and bars like she always did early on in her career, but she was so good fame came to her anyway and she could not cope with it..

Bands these days are too safe. In my day Keith Moon driving his roller into a swimming pool. Many a tv thrown out of a hotel room window. Sex and drugs and rock n roll.

What annoyed me about the Stones and it was only laterly.I was watching a recording of a free Hyde park gig(think it was shortly after Jone's death) and on the stage you can quite obviously see a black guy playing and I was like 'nobody ever mentioned to me anything about a black guy in the Stones'.

The band’s manager Andrew Loog Oldham detested Brian Jones…
He pissed off the rest of the band as well.
Jagger described him as very jealous, difficult and manipulative.
Add in an out of control drug and alcohol habit and you have an impossible situation.

'The fifth Beatle'

There was African tribal drummers who you just named who joined them for an 18 minute version of "Sympathy for the Devil" at that gig.
It was a free concert 2 weeks after Jones death.

The Hyde Park gig was awful - watch the footage of it then watch the Blind Faith gig at the same place the month earlier to see what a band should be like ... Mick is in the audience and wishing he was Stevie

- anyhow enough of this - time to get into the weirdos from the west of the city. Cmon Hibs
