Interesting wee vid on the royalties debacle that surrounded this song. My sympathies entirely with the Verve other than them being completely at it in suggesting the sample is peripheral rather than the back bone of the song. Then again, its not the sample - which was agreed - which cost them. What did is utterly bollocks imo...

Very deceitful and cut throat by Klein snr
Klein was an absolute cvnt, so no surprise there.
I do remember a funny story about him regarding The Big Lebowski. The Cohen brothers wanted to use Townes van Zandt's cover of the Stones' Dead Flowers at the end of the movie but Klein held the copyright and refused. The Cohens begged him to watch the film, which he did, and when it got to the part where The Dude says "I hate the fucking Eagles, man", Klein laughed and said fuck it, it's yours to use. 😆

Interesting. My mates got sued by Klein for including the line "Goodbye Ruby Tuesday" in one of their songs and ended up having to share the writing credits and royalties with Jagger and Richards
