It doesn't look great for them at the moment!

BBC said:
'Birmingham City confirm they are open to offers for any of their first-team players as they battle financial problems. The club, lying 20th in the Championship, are looking to offload a number of players to reduce their wage bill.'

If only they had one player that we could sign, a player that perhaps played for us. This player may even be out for the rest of the season through injury, meaning the prospects of the club selling him now could be much higher.

If only there was such a player.

Murphy loved his time at Hibs, but he did want to get back down south.

Cant see him back up here again sadly

I doubt he would take whatever drop in wages (which I assume will be fairly high) either.

To be fair, many clubs will look at his recent history with despair at his injuries.

He would be one hell of a replacement for McGivern.

Without a doubt, best left/right back in my 36 years of going to ER.
Technical ability was fantatstic

And i dont mean he played right back, before i get pulled up on that one, i just mean in any of said positions

Yeah, you could have a point, maybe my memory isnt the best.
JB was my early days and not got the strongest memory of they days tbh
My first game as a 6 year old was about '75, a couple of years of JB through the odd game or two for me

Agreed.

Murphy was best left back since Shades though.
:bbb:

edit:
Probably Onion before the time in question

Shades was immense, but dont think he was as technically gifted as DM:dunno:
A hard man was shades, maybe i am missing more aspects of his game though

No, you're spot on.

He wasn't the best in that respect, but for galloping down the wing, or tackling blokes that stayed tackled for about ten minutes after, he was the man.

I'd say the 7th at Tynie pretty much summed him up

Sadly, Shades's tackling style would be froiwned upon in these more 'enlightened' times. He could and did fair pile in though. Oh I miss these days when real men played football :ballon:

These prima donna fukkers that masquerade as blokes on a football pitch wouldn't go near Shades once he had tackled one of their mates :yas:

He was a good **** in real life as well.

I remember a thread on the bounce someone started purely because Murphy mis-controlled one pass. No-one could believe their eyes.

Commentators talk about goalkeepers and the number of minutes they've held clean sheets but Murphy must have gone about three years of perfect ball control before that error which might have been the only time it happened.

Murphy had probably the best first touch I've seen at Easter Road, added to strong tackling, making acres of space for himself and that goal definately sets him apart from all other fullbacks in my time watching Hibs.

Would love to see him back here, sadly cant see any chance of it happening.

I used to go play snooker with Erich and his Starsky and Hutch car driving mate Evan ,who was my brothers mate, built like a shit hoose and his somersault and back on his feet after melting someone always made me laugh, good lad but JB was brilliant.
