Best league in the world

Who says it's the best league in the World?

They do!

Mmmmmm, I can see a flaw there!!

I enjoy watching it more than any other league. There's poor matches in every league, but people up here want to pick out every English one just to try and say it's not the best league in the world. It is the most exciting overall, IMO.

The football is exciting and of a high standard but I hate the EPL because of all the money involved and Sky ramming it down our throats. The sooner the bubble bursts the better

Most of the games in the EPL are gash. The self proclaimed best league in the world is miles behind the Bundesliga for entertainment and skill.

Enjoyed the Arsenal game today and enjoy watching English footy in general - totally agree re German league though, much prefer it. The sky promotion is a bit annoying I agree, however thats their job I suppose. As Im sure youd agree the quality is much better down there is miles higher than the pish we see up here - does anyone watch Sportscene since we've not been in the same division as most of the games they show?

I was listening to them talking about the Man U game yesterday earlier and Lawro (tm) was asked about the goalie situ and what they should do about Real Madrids advances towards him. Sell him he said. An unhappy player destabilises the dressing room and the training field. He was then asked but what if Real Madrid arent offering what Man U think hes worth but the player is making it clear that he doesnt want to play for Man U anymore but wants to play for Real? His reply was dont sell him for below his worth, but get him away from the other players, the training field and the dressing room. Even if he is their most important player? Yes. They then had a moan about how Real Madrid always do this - unsettling other teams ...This sound familiar? Now Lawrenson can be a bit of a dick, but he knows what hes talking anout when it comes to football...

Can never understand why fans up here bemoan the standard of football in Scotland in comparison with the EPL...there would be something quite wrong if the standard was in any way comparable given the resources they have compared to us and the fact they have 10 times our population. Scottish football can certainly do with an improvement to the standard but let's no be daft and try to compare it with English football. It's like comparing the standard of Danish football with German.

I dont expect the standard to be as high as there, Im sure no-one does!

I was stating that if I wanted to watch a football match on TV, Im more likely to watch an English one than a Scottish one. And for that matter a German one than an English one. I was responding to the statement that English footy is gash. Most footy is gash, but there is more chance of it not being a gash game if you were to watch NUFC v SFC today as opposed to Celtic v Thistle which was on at the same time.

Fair point

I'm a bit more stubborn. If there is an EPL game on TV and a Scottish game on TV at the same time I'll always watch the Scottish game.

I`m with you Dubster. I will always watch a Scottish game over an EPL match. No matter who it is that`s playing. The one exception to that is a game that involves the huns. I have little interest in listening to the studio wankfest that ensues when they`re on and i`ve no interest whatsoever in watching them play...unless it`s against ourselves.

The EPL has sold it's soul. If there is nothing else on I will watch some of it but I get bored pretty quickly and usually move on to something else. It might be down to not supporting a team or it might be down to most of the time it just doesn't live up to the hype. I'm underwhelmed by it. I think the EPL has four really good teams and the rest are pretty much on a par with teams in leagues elsewhere. I'll sometimes watch MLS or Mexico teams and I think they are just as good as a lot of the teams in the EPL.

I just got BT Sports after fiddling about with my Virgin package. Two games I've watched so far have been Man Utd v Spurs and St Pauli v Borussia M. I knew German football was the top in Europe just now but didn't realise by how much. Always found Spanish and Italian to slow but the German game was played at a good pace, with loads of skill and power. The English match was typical of the post-mourinhio premiership - hyped to the maximum and totally conservative.
