Bernard Hill

Also was captain of the Titanic on the 1997 James Cameron epic.
Will always be remembered for old Yosser Hughes...if ever a TV drama embodied the realities of life on the dole in the early 80's Thatcher Britain it was Boys from the Black Stuff. "Gie's a job....I can do that".

RIP Bernard.

Just watched that again a couple of weeks ago.

He was superb.
I remember Souness saying that Hill, playing the character of Yosser scared him even though he knew it was acting.

RIP.

The death of Hill makes Tom Georgeson the last surviving member of the BFTBS cast including director and producer.
A great BBC drama that meant something to me because I was unemployed at the time and my prospects were grim along with a lot of the working class guys I knew.
Bernard Hill was always Yosser Hughes to me, RIP
