I'm not watching it, haven't for some years, and you can all imagine why.

Anyway, you all know I'm as shallow as a drink spilt on the bar, so I hope Jessica Ennis wins.

A lovely girl with a beautiful smile. Any excuse to see photos of her looking at her very best will do for me. :-)

Well, you missed Jessica in a clingfilm dress! Lugs Lineker is a bit of a fanny. But I'm watching it to see how Andy gets on.

How unworthy of you, Westie, and on a Sunday evening too!

But, corrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Same here though it's a sin if Murray doesn't get it,folk forget he won and Gold and Silver at the Olympics too.

Wiggins won something no Briton has EVER won and an endurance event like no other. It is a truly enormous achievement and then, after going through that physical challenge he comes back to win Gold at the Olympics and become the second most decorated British Olympian ever behind Chris Hoy.

Its not a sin Andy didn't win, it was a sin he didn't come second.

On the bright side, we got to see Jessica's rump again :077:
Must have been cold in there tonight :tuttut:

Andy Murray... Gracious in not winning.

Congratulations Bradley Wiggins on winning, what a truly amazing year for British sport. Congratulations to everyone involved, there were so many deserving cases for the award. It was an honour being part of it all.

Apologies I wasn't there this evening, I am currently working hard out in Miami in my off-season to make sure I give myself the best possible chance to win more slams. Thank you again to anyone that voted for me, here's to a successful 2013!

All he needs is the personality.

I think the trophy is awarded for outstanding sporting achievement. Murray is innately shy, but comes across as honest, it seems to me.

Some people won two golds, some people won four golds, some people.....

Simply outstanding ! Sunday Monday or any other day.....

The days of Andy coming second are over.....

Simply magnificent.

Point of order of the team award, though.BBC website specifically said prior to last night that 'Team GB' couldn't win the team award. The Ryder Cup team should have strolled that award.

Have they won it before or does the fact its a European team rule them out?

I wouldn't argue with any of top 3 as there were so many to choose from it's a difficult job. Farah's two golds at distance events means he was very unlucky though.

Think they have won it before mate, not 100% sure, though.Team GB were a collection of teams combined, not a single team.No doubt The Olympics were a massive success ( costing us 24Billion!) but what The RC team did was the best thing I've ever seen on TV...they were 10-4 down on Saturday afternoon!

Agree about Mo, but this year the choice for individual victory was an impossible choice...although I see Brad won 1/3 of all votes cast, pretty definitive.

While not wanting to take anythihng away from Bradley. He's won the Olympics time trial single handedly after all, and even to complete the TDF is a massive achievement, but his TDF win was as part of a team riding to team orders. Other riders in the team were told to let Bradley win some of the stages and even had to slow down to let him pass at times.

Bottom line is that most of the candidates in last nights SPOTY would have romped it in any other year. Sometimes the winners are folk that have won nowt on the world stage (Greg Rusedski anyone?).

Next year we may not have workd champions in anything and they'll be giving it to someone who took a decent free kick in a world cup qualifier for England or summat.

You have a point but the enormity of it all was significant. Nobody had ever done it before - making it inherently exceptional - and it is sheer physical endurance at its most extreme. He also has won a huge Olympic medal haul, second only to Hoy.

Exactly. What an exceptional year.

Now there is someone who is much less "British" than any other winner

Or even giving a professional free kick taker a "lifetime achievement award"...oh silly me, that was last year :doh

Seb Coe at least merited the award last night, whether people care for him or his politics or not. Definitely worthy of that award. :thumbgrin

Seemingly the rules were bent to allow Team GB get the trophy - it is meant to be given to a team playing ONE sport as long as it has a reasonable British contingent it qualifies (otherwise no football team would qualify either). Ryder Cup should have won.

However, cynically, you might argue there were no golfers on the panel selecting the winners :lookaround:

(Which comprised Dame Kelly, Sir Steve and Denise Lewis - nae bias there then)
