Really funny in a way that Lily Savage just wasn't. Accent? Material? Dunno.
The characters and thus the material. Lily Savage was just a bloke playing a working class woman with a sharp tongue . Although he/she was very funny, Dame Edna (especially) & Sir Les were on a different level in that the characters were total inventions, but a parody of our flee ridden "ruling classes".

Very funny man.The comparisons with Lily aren't needed. One was working class the other middle.Lily was breaking more ground than Dame Edna, ground already well trodden by the likes of Stanley Baxter and Danny La Rue.
