That's federer out.... Murray playing very well in first 3 rounds....
Not really sure of the draw yet, who meets who, when etc.
But AM back to his best and hopefully another final here is looming, and going one step further

Murray would still have a few tough games to get there. The next match is Dmitrov who knocked him out at wimbledon and then it looks like Nadal in the Semi before a Djokovic final. (not sure who he plays in quarters)

Still very tough.

Hope he does it though.

Indeed. It's an understatement to say that Grand Slams are a tough nut to crack in this era.

Yep, but it's good to see Murray clearly back to his best, even improved imo.
To win any grand slam is phenomenal achievement.
As always though I think AM can beat the best to win it, not sure Nadal is 100% fit tbh.
Djoko as always will be there but AM has and can beat him in a slam final.
I love the slams man, the athletism puts footballers to shame

Murray 1set up and a break up In the 2nd set.
Live on Eurosport right now if anyone interested

Great match, both players on top form.
But AM is just amazing sometimes, unbelievable shots.
AM serving for the 2nd set

Oh dear, AM a bit defensive and loses his serve, then loses tie break.
1-1 sets

The 3rd set could never have been as quality as the first two... But.....
AM wins it
2-1 sets Murray

Wow, just wow!!!
Murray down 5-2 in the 4 th set to a great player in Dmitrov, very strong and great stamina not to mention great player..... Murray now winning 6-5 and serving for the match... Dmitrov smashed his racquet after last game

Murray wins 3-1 sets.
5-2 down in 4th set to win it 7-5.
What a match.
Dmitrov is a quality player.
But AM has a new found strength and concentration.
He has improved greatly imo, in all aspects of his game

Murray 1 Set up in his 1/4 final with Kyrgios and with Nadal out as well now it has opened up his side of the draw rather nicely

Im having to put up with 'Kyrgios mania' down under.

He is talented no doubt, but also a prize bellend. Despite this the Aussies love him. Would be great to see Andy school him

Agree there is some good tennis being played and that Murray is looking really comfortable out there. Kyrgios really cant seem to apply to much pressure to AM on the key points at the moment though

I did say I was doubtful of Nadal in this competition a couple of rounds ago and I said AM is looking his best if not more improved, mentally as well as aggressiveness.
Come on saaaan

Murray through to Aus Final on Sunday, he also moves back into the top 4 seeds in the world with the semi win and can move to 3rd if he wins the final :applause:

Yeah, good to see him back at the top, playing as good as ever but more aggressive when needed.
Instead of letting bad shots get to him he seems to focus much more, his reaction to losing the first set today was champion stuff.
Fitter stronger and more determined than ever....
Great stuff.

Yeah
Be a hard hitting tough match, one AM can definitely win.
Come on Andy saaaan

Oh, he can win for sure. My living room is gonna get another serious pacing on Sunday morning.

Tempted to sleep through the first hour, for my nerves' sake. [emoji1]

1 Set all both went to tie breaks, this is getting to be a game of small margins they are pretty even on the stat side so far

What a match, 2.5 hours for the first two sets.
Amazing athletes and tremendous talent

This is a different AM attitude wise, stronger and more focused.

He never seems able to consolidate periods of dominance, though. It's gruelling to watch, like!

I had to nick out to the shop earlier so i put Sportsounds tennis commentary on in the car. They still managed to shoehorn numerous references to the bigotfest at Hampden the day into the 10 minutes of coverage i heard.

`Mon Andy :applause:

Think I just reported your post by mistake
Yeah I agree, very hard going.

Aye, who`d have thought it. Just one of this centuries modern wonders i guess... :rascal:

2 sets to 1 down now. That set was a fuckin disaster. Should`ve been won.

Feeling a bit sorry for Murray now. Seems to always have a stage in these kind of matches where he beats himself up mentally - it really affects his game.

Yep, John Lloyd called it right. It was a stupid error by him to get rid of Lendl imo. He`d won his two majors with the guy and had helped him to be more positive mentally. Everything he is showing in this match had been banished from his game under Lendl. Stupid costly mistake to split from him, imo.

He didn't "get rid of Lendl" :read:

Lendl quit.

He didn't want the workload of coaching a top 4 player any more and wanted more time doing his other interests and being with his family.

Well he should have tied him up with a spare net and told him he wasn`t going anywhere then... :077:

Murray is a very good player, easily the greatest British Tennis player of all time, but he is not isn't the same class as Djokovic, Nadal or Federer. He might win another Grand Slam Title but time is fast running out for him.

He should still have another 3 - 5 years at this level as long as injuries don't take their toll, ND only looked unbeatable from 3-0 in the 4th.

Nadal and Fed are no where near their best, arguably they are on the way down but should still have enough to contest the majority of slam 1/4s this year and there aren't too many of the younger players looking like breaking into that top 4 any time soon.

Andy blew it, again. I really like the guy and want him to win of course, but unless he sorts his head out, he won't win as much as his talent deserves imo

In his press conference he said it was more mental than physical so at least he knows what needs worked on. Checking the schedules there are a few ATP 1000 events plus the Dubai tournament to try and iron this out although he loses Mauresmo for the French, IIRC. Could do worse than give Superbrat a quick phone call to be in his corner leading to the French:hmmm
