Full Time: Arabs 1 v 0 Hibs

I thought we were a lot more positive, a lot less sideways and backwards passing, not so pedestrian and ponderous so I thought that was an improvement. Final pass was dreadful and we gave away the ball far too often and we created nothing in the second half apart from a shot in the 92nd minute or so. Utd broke forward a few times and looked threatening but luckily they were weak in front of goal.
Three BASIC things need to improve quickly before any new recruitment hopefully digs us out the shite. Fitness, concentration, commitment. Plenty supposedly worse teams than us with lesser individual skills manage to turn in decent performances.
Johnson, Montgomery, Maloney, Gray were unable to improve individuals, focussing everything on their preferred style of play. Reedijke seems to be a different breed but it's going to take a while. That was an eye opener for him and he now fully understands the task ahead of him. I won't be slagging any players as pish, shite etc and for fuck sake the Manager's first game and *&*^ booing GTF!

Fairly clear that Reedijk selected his starting team based on what he saw at the La Manga training camp and his first
full week at East Mains.

This is our problem, he is a young foreign manager coming in completely new not only to the club but to scottish football.
He will have never been in this situation before at this level of football.
He doesn't really know the strengths and weaknesses of his inherited squad of players yet, although yesterday will have given him some idea now.
But we need wins starting next Saturday, so the pressure is on immediately.

My worry is that he starts to over complicate things like so many of the new batch of coaches in football do now.
It's a simple game football.
Be strong and organised at the back. work hard in midfield to create chances for the strikers and work hard to get the ball back when you lose it.
Get balls into the penalty box as quickly as possible, then put the ball in the opponents net more often they do in our net..

Hibs since the start of the season seem to be failing to do the basics right.
That's the first thing he has to get sorted this week.

Concerning though I have to say.

Hibernian Football Club is aware of the incidents that occurred in the West Stand at Tannadice following our match against Dundee United on Saturday.

The Club is investigating the events in collaboration with other supporters in attendance at the match, Police Scotland and Dundee United FC to establish the full circumstances, and will subsequently take appropriate action as necessary.

The safety, wellbeing and matchday experience of our supporters is extremely important to us, and we will provide a further update this week prior to our upcoming match against Falkirk at Easter Road.

Was talking to a friend tonight who is a regular supporter and was at the game. He says that when the players went over to acknowledge the fans they were getting abuse from the B7 guys. He says it was Cadden that kicked it all off by giving the ‘Mon then gesture towards the fans.

Looked to me that it was a “calm down, calm down” gesture from Cadden and Iredale.
The loudhailer looney was going tonto though, and demanding the players get nearer which they were clearly reluctant to do.

The “calm down” gesture was how I saw it too. We were “seated” close to B7 at Tannadice last season and it wasn’t a pleasant afternoon. The young lad who apparently decided to share my seat was so far out of it I doubt he even knew where he was. Not a great look for folk who take young kids to games.

I was still in the Fair Play Stand when it happened. It looked to me like megaphone man called Passlack over for some sort of Ultras reason, Passlack went over as if to invite him down to speak, but megaphone man jumps down way too quick to go speak to Paslack. He appeared from under the bottom of the banner right into a huge stewards hands, as you would expect the steward who was watching the crowd never seen an invite by Passlack and quite rightly grabbed someone he thought was invading the pitch, the police standing there also jumped in as you would expect and choas followed.
