Sad to see in the paper today the announcement of the passing of Alistair Dewar...Hibbies of a certain age will remember Alistair from his regular Saturday evening TV reports on Edinburgh football during the 70's. He certainly knew his football and was clearly a total Hibby as he always had a smile on his face when he was reporting a Hibs win, but looked like I. M. Jolly when we had lost.

He was a Portobello man and a regular attender at St Johns church...

RIP Alistair

Used to see him about Portobello quite a bit and often had a chat with him about the Hibs. An absolute gentleman who maybe looked glum but who was very different when you got talking to him.

RIP

I liked his reports 60's/70's. He had a sardonic sense of humour as I recall. Dinae forget he could brilliantly summarise a game which had only finished a matter of 15 minutes before, in a couple of minutes. That clearly wisnae his day job and makes the imposters doing the same job today look like amateurs.

Used to talk him in Porty, really nice guy and an 'old-school', honest gentleman - that the media now have 'characters' like Billy Dodds shows how far standards have plummeted. Sad news.
