Incredible day. Incredible to think it was pay at the gate! No ticket sales and panic over ticket sales. No downloading of apps to display tickets on your phone. Just rock up with cash and in you go. With hundreds if not thousands locked outside... Great day and days! 💚
Got in at 3.10 and they closed the turnstiles behind me.

First time I, along with many others, had seen Hibs win a trophy at Hampden...and we got two trophies !

I went through with my whole family, including my late mum, and I was so happy we all got to see Hibs winning a cup.
It was a terrible game to watch, and I was quite nervous during the first half especially.
Dubious penalty award helped us, although I always believed that the ref gave it for the push on Mickey Weir.
The two Proclaimers were standing just down from me in the North terrace.
Enormous Hibs support, one of the biggest I have ever seen outside Edinburgh.

A couple of my mates didn't get in and missed seeing Hibs winning a cup, they ended up having to watch the game at a local bowling club.
Great reception back at Easter Road as well.
All this a year after the club almost died.
Alex Miller IMO was a tremendous manager for Hibs, he built a fine team in the early 90's which came very close to winning the League Cup again two years later.
Great day, can't believe it's been 35 years.

That was a completely different football world with pay at the gate, followed by a lock out, 2 subs, virtually everyone standing and probably about 18 Scottish players on the pitch starting from either side.

The others being English which might have been Budgie, Mad Mitch, Andy Rhodes and Kosmic Kozma who was Hungarian.

Alex Miller had survived being 9th in the league the year before which would never happen these days.🤔

It was a strange disjointed match but Dunfermline were toothless and Hibs had gubbed Dunfermline 3:0 a few weeks before and were always in reasonable control though looking back Keith, Keith, Keith sealed the game much later than it felt at the time.

It was the semi final v "Scotlands Shame 1872" that really deserves to be remembered just as much as the final as "Scotland's Shame 1872" had a fine team led by Richard Gough (CM), with Hateley and Le Petit Merde up front, Stuart McCall and Ferguson in midfield and their horrible keeper.

I could never fathom the hate Alex Miller used to generate as he built some very decent teams and was another manager who got Hibs to 3rd place a few years later 👏👏 though it is definetly true to say he was allowed to stay far to long ....and then along comes Duff Jimmy.🤧😄.

BTH , myself and my 7 year old son were there.
Along with my wifes uncle and a cousin.
We got tickets thanks to ex Hibee Colin Grant who was then chairman of Peterhead FC.
He got them via his best mate Sloop who was at St Johnstone at that time iirc.
I remember at full time asking my son if he enjoyed it?
'Aye. Can we do it again next year?'
BTH and I exchanged glances and rolled our eyes simutaneously..
Didn't want to spoil his day....

That's bait :52:

Hibs were boring to watch, for most of the period. Even when we had quality players it could be really dull to watch.

Favourite story I heard which sums it up was Kevin McAllister asking for a transfer after 6 weeks because he hadn't signed to play right back.

Looking back it was was maybe game changing use of percentages, but it felt like safety first cautious football. Certainly not the Hibs way.

I think most can accept performances with results. Hibs results were bang average though.

Spot on.
Old Bastard Face could certainly spot a player, but some of the football was indeed dire with the emphasis on not losing.
The Weegie Meeja blamed Hibs fans for disliking and hounding him because of his Hun connections, but I don't recall that featuring at all.

I remember turning up at the Southside Snooker club at 9am for first drinks off the day.

Only to find a cleaner on her own inside.

Unfortunately i forgot to put my clock back :52:

Good news my mate stayed around the corner,so got the rolls and sausage on the flying pan lol.

First time i ever saw Hibs win a trophy was to young in 1972
Guy i grew up with (Derek McWilliams) in the Dunfermline side
only regret that day was i went straight home after the game and never went to Easter Road

Fabulous day. Young and wrecked. Big team went through, and a few no here anymore. The support was enormous (the official attendance - aye right).

Glorious.

The shite the young team need to go through nowadays, modern fitba, and all its baggage, doesn't half suck balls

I seem to remember a story from the semi final that had Goram mentioning in the dressing room that if he'd stayed at Hibs he'd have won a trophy to which McCoist answered "if you'd stayed at Hibs, we'd have won a trophy" :gigglle:

Too many young guys that saw us win the cup that were gone by the time we won the other cup. Where did that 25 years go
