It is possible to achieve but who's got the skill, discipline and stamina required? I know I haven't.

P&L this week: +1,752.30

Current P&L Total: 101,575.06Well, thats that then, what the hell am I supposed to do with my life now!?I would have loved to say I finished with a real bang with England winning the 5th Test yesterday, but unfortunately the umpires took the players off for bad light when they needed 21 off 24 balls. I had this book:I cant recall ever feeling worse about getting 1.9k, but upon reflection it was probably a fair call, I suppose its just disappointing we had such a dramatic finish in store and then we didnt get to see it you know. But the draw was 1.01 to lay going into the day, I had literally no book or position, was actually 26 equal red after missing the first two days and then working off the tactic I have been going with all series, if England dont win it finishes a draw, so with Australia being the team in the driving seat early on there was no way I was laying the draw. So anyway, yesterday morning I backed England at up to 500 and watched it tick down working off the fact Clarke would declare and give them a target I actually dumped my red at 50, so I was sitting with 14k green on England all the way down never felt they were a suitable price to trade out all the same though, they always seemed a huge price to me, right up until the very end, obviously the market was panicking towards the death with the light closing in, but as an experienced trader theres no way Im panicking like that even if it did cost me a few grand this time. Cest la vie.So there we go. I started with 100 on the 1st of March 2009 on http://stephenmaher.blogspot.ie/ - my first day betting was actually the 2nd, and I made 15.38, a whole lot of things have changed since eh. I dont think I ever gave a reason for starting or went through it, I suppose when I started I didnt really plan on finishing (why would you). I was always interested in betting and had started well before leaving school, I was always fairly good at it and numbers, my Grandad was a greyhound trainer so I was brought up basically at the dogs and horses, he actually went into hospital towards the end of 2008 for heart surgery and it took him ages to get out, he eventually got out in January/February 2009 I think and everything was looking relatively OK (still going fingers crossed, although he hasnt given me a winner in bloody ages!) and I was looking for a way to get back into betting having been out of the game for a good few months. My friend Tomas had started a blog tipping horses each day, and I thought Id start one too but Id try this.

Fiery Jack tried something like this gambling on goals per game. If I recall correctly he was doing pretty well but came a cropper.

Going all in each time will eventually throw up a 0-0 (Man U v Chelsea, anyone?). This guy trades instead which means taking a position on an outcome and trading when it goes the right way to lock in a profit and move on to the next one.

Major discipline required here!

I am still picking five or six games on a Saturday and playing singles - sometimes backing but laying when I think a team is too short priced. All changes in running so cannae do it when at the Hibs games as the reception is mince at ER....:banger:

I never seem to get this trading thing right. I only ever seem to lay off winning bets or get stuck with a bet that moves against me and I have to take a loss. I think i'm destined just to be an old fashioned gambler, living with the ups and downs that come.
