Are you Dougie howser then doc haha
Ward was shite but I thought we got him as part payment for des Brenner who could play a bit but couldn't look anymore 70ish porn star if he tried haha
It was indeed.
I think we got the option of taking 200,000 for Des, or 250,000 plus Joe.

I agree with you there hibby1
He just never kicked on im sure he got 4 in a full Scotland u21 and made not a bad living playing in the championship for a few years and I wont forget his goal against the gunts that alone keeps you out my worst haha
Thinking about it maybe i have been a tad harsh on Harper and Luna, Id replace them with Kujabi and O'Hanlon

Hibs have never had a player called Makalamity!?

There was a keeper a couple of years ago called Yves Makabu Ma-Kalambay, but you cant be referring to him as he has the best derby record of any Hibs keeper in the last 30-40 years.

and, as others have pointed out, Kevin Harper?!!

Did you watch lots of games on the wireless?

I don't see how anybody can be rated lower than Tony Caig.
I never once saw him have a good game or make a barry save. That can't be said for any other 'keeper.

Kevin Harper, one of the worst players to play for Hibs ever!

I wish.

You could fill this with forwards we've signed recently that couldn't score in a brothel with a wad of notes....

I would say anyone who played for the 1998 team which were relegated have to at least come into consideration for "worst ever" lists. However you have to also bear in mind the league was, IMHO, a lot stronger back then. Not sure that side would have been relegated from the SPL in any of the subsequent seasons.

Harper though... bloody hell he scored 3 goals in 3 separate wins over the scum. Two of them absolute beauties! One of my favourite players from that era :applause:

This!! I remember the first time I seen him in goals, Dunfermline I think at Easter Road, caught a cross and dropped it at the forwards feet 2 yards from goal :doh
Think he let in 3 that game maybe :dunno:

Harper was being hailed as the best thing since sliced bread for the Scotland squad, in the run up to qualifying for the '98 World Cup. The weegie press were all over him like a rash cos he was brought up in Possil as a kid(not born there tho'), and, as he was a pape, were pushing him into the Celtc team(which was pish as Huns were on course for 9 in a row).
Then that big ugly Gunt ba'stard, Neil Pointon, went thru him in a derby and finished his season, and put paid to any chance he had to play for Scotland.
When he came back the following season he wasn't the same player, and was eventually punted down south to Derby for a decent fee.
I remember his last game away to Clydebank, in our 'Great Adventure'. Warming up during the first half behind the goal right in front of the Hibs fans. He was ripping Judas up for arse paper to me and some guys I was with, fuckin' hated him, and wanted away from Hibs asap because of him. Came on at half time, 0-0, and scored a peach. Left Hibs the next day.

Crackin' player on his day, never one of our worst.

Kevin Harper one of the worst ever? That's just so bizzare. After he left Hibs he ended up playing in the premiership.
I will go with Hakim Sar, a guy clearly bought after a you tube view.

And an ignorant git ,to boot.

On the road down from Aberdeen after a baltic Sunday afternoon match we won 1-0, we stopped off at the Mickey Ds at Forfar because the bairns needed the loo and a heat. As was the want under Mr Blobby, the team bus also drew up and players came in to buy food. Paul Fenwick, Derek Townsley (in particular) and a host of other players came up to the kids to say hello, realising that these wee boys must have been frozen cold and deserving of an acknowledgement for making the trek. Caig just walk on by. Head down, avoiding eye contact so he didn't have to be bothered :Embarassed::coffee:

Anyway, my list, and in no particular order:

Alan O'Brien: This was our Ali Dia. Incredibly bad.
Brian Hamilton: An ugly, pant-sniffing huddy of a player.
Joe Tortolano: Tried hard, but was rotten far too often.
Zibby Malkowski: Had a knack of bungling the simplest things. Constantly.
Matt Doherty: Arrogant AND useless; a double-whammy of pishness.
Pa Kujabi: A symptom of Fenlon desperation. And plain old cack.
Colin Murdock: Mistake after mistake after mistake. Blobby liked him.
Rowan Vine: FUCKING pish, fat and he looked ridiculous.
Shefki Kuqi: A big fucking dud with a big fucking reputation.
Alan Sneddon: 'Ol cyclops was both slow, and useless.

I tried to limit my 'they embarrassed the green'' listing to the more recent signings and maybe some less obvious ones as when you assess the 'worst' you have to take into account other factors as well such as cost and expectation.

For example 'Hakin-Sam-Tamousory' may have been complete garbage but he was 1 game garbage at minimal cost compared to say Alan O'Brien or ''Flash Harry' Donaldson' who trousered 3 year contracts and huge signing on fees.:dunno:

In no particular order and boy scouts ''Be prepared'' as some aren't going to like the last one:wink:

Martin and Jimmy Scott/
Never worked out what was his actual name and after watching him play a few times cared less as all he could do was run. Unable to pass or tackle and no sense of awareness and generally hopeless. Ross County got 80,000 for a player Coco had never seen based on the recomendation of errrr Derek Adams who probably popped up to Dingwall and gave his faither (The Ross County Big Cheese) the cheque personally.

Martin (or Jimmy) also emptied out the Hibs reserve Scott Welsh breaking his jaw in 3 places:banger:

Victor Palsson
Self assured, calm, sprayed passes around, great first touch....at least that's what Victor thought as after all he was such great pals with Stevie G. When the going got tough as it did with Jim Goodwin of St Mirren then Victor hid as he was devoid of character and as it turned out lacked the most important football characteristic of all...bottle.

Pissing in some darkened corner of a nightclub summed up his Hibs career and his self respect.:banger:

Zibby
30.000 poles working in Edinburgh and we got the one with 'nae hands'. The match fixing guys were after an unamed Polish goalkeeper doing the rounds of Western European clubs and I often wondered.:dunno:

Staggeringly 'Saint' Tony seemingly offered him a contract extension as well.

Johnathon Johannsen
Mixu signs up his very good pal.:dunno: When on his 2nd/3rd appearance JJ couldn't outrun 65 year old Davie Weir then you knew Hibs had signed yet another dud on a pension top up plan whose legs had gone. I cant remember even one good game he played and always suspected he was using Hibs to keep fit as he was still turning out for Finland at the time.:dunno:

Eddie Van Der Graf
Pretended to be Dutch but couldn't possibly be as he had no technique,no awareness, no first touch and no technical ability. Instead he played like any other clogger from the very lower leagues of Scottish football who have never had a days coaching in their lives. Yogi thought he was signing the new Pat McGinaly...dearie me.:dunno:

Valdas Trakys
He was a striker, he was here for a complete season and errrrr he never scored a goal. How much more damming can it get.:dunno:

Freddy Arpingon/
A class creative act on the few occasions when he dominated the game producing accurate and balanced passes all over the pitch. Except it only happened 2/3 times in 3 years as he was always injured and while of course he isn't the worst player Hibs have ever had but on for basis and in this case 500,000 of wages and signing on fees then it doesnt come much worse than this.:dunno:

Issaigh Osbourne/
Not specifically him in particular but he totally sums up the Alan O'Briens, 'Flash Harry' Donaldson, Matt Thornhills, and Jarko Wiss who are signed on huge money deals from a very decent standard of English football and who deliver next to nothing in return.:dunno:

Jim Duffy
The worst manager Hibs have ever had as he dismantled Miller's drab but functional side and replaced with the only players he knew which was Scottish 1st Division dross and who were subsequently in a relegation play off in his first year and doomed by February the following year losing 6-2 to Motherwell after being 0-2 up.

If you want one player then Tosh, if you want 2 then Mcquilken and if you want 3 then Lee Power.:dunno:

Georgie Best
A complete waste of a signing and one who contributed on a large scale to Hibs being relegated. :dunno:

Not completely my opinion but Eddie Turnbull's who devoted a whole chapter in his book outlining the whole sorry tale of an overweight, unfit player only here for the money with a very serious drinking problem that meant he was often unavailable for selection when he bothered to turn up in the first place.

3,000 a week supposedly out of Tom Harts pocket could have been so much betterspent.:dunno:

I dont disagree that much with Turnbull except that his team were doomed either way but I can only ever remember 2 decent performances (v 'Scotland's Shame 1872' in the cup and Celtc when he scored but for much of the time selecting George was like playing with 10 men especially in the second half of games.:dunno:
