Yogi sacked

Has there ever been news more unsurprising than this?

I take it the fart-lighting tournaments and running about with their shorts at their ankles just didn`t give them enough of a tactical advantage over their opponents....:coffee:

27.59% win rate at the Monkeyhangers which unbelievably is worse than he did with us where he had a 35.19% win rate.

What do we know about football, we are just a bunch of faceless wonders.

This is a stitch up of Hun proportions, Fergie retires and then Yogi gets sacked????
AYE RIGHT, expect an announcement from Old Trafford any time now!

Just sacked eh.

Got off lightly.
Does tradition and history have no meaning any more?

He's as thick as pig shit.
He'd rather have 4 goalies than 1 right-back.
Colin Nish starting a European match ahead of Riordan and Stokes still twists my melon to this day.
Total charlatan.

I was absolutely fuming at this and it showed him up for the clueless caaaant that he was. Still like him for what he done as a player but he was woefull as a manager.

Yogi is an ex Hibs captain, manager , 6-2 and 0-3 gunt slayer

Yes, there was mistakes made during his tenure here, but make no mistake he is a hibs man.
Is it the norm on here now to abuse " one of our own"

He had a point with the faceless remark as I would bet most folk on here would be sooking up his arse if they met him face to face danni

He was a total idiot as a manager the whole time he was here though.

'Fitba' folk ken whit's gaun oan'.

One of our own? Only when it suited him.

You are wrong. He was emptied before 6-2.
You should also never bite the hand that feeds you. His and Nish's comments at the time were out of order and both deserved the derision that came their way.

With Hughes being a Hibs man I always wanted him to succeed at Hibs. Unfortunately, he's just not a very good manager for professional football as his record indicates. He would be better at junior football maybe.

Hughes still got us into Europe... The form that team carried for the first part of that season was fantastic, one of the best games I've seen us play was out demolition of Motherwell at Fir Park under him.

If he wasn't such a bully he probably could have achieved more at Hibs.

I disagree. Our luck just simply ran out around Christmas time, we were a very lucky team in the first part of the season imo.

Yogi was tactically inept, we were doing well in the league despite him, not because of him.

A decent enough football player.
Hopelessly inept manager with no motivational or communication skills who terrified younger players.

Came across as a bit of a bully who operated a regime of cronyism and (as mentioned above) fart lighting.

Also signed some dumplings.
Stokes was his saving grace: for a while anyway.

Graeme Smith, Edwin de Graaf, Michael Hart, Nish v Maribor, Motherwell 6-6 Hibernian, Paddy Cregg, 4 first team goalies etc....

What game was that?

Edwin de Graaf

Aah yes....Edwin De Graaf. A box tae box midfielder..:giggle:

How the fuck did he manage to sign the only Dutch player ever who was unable to control a ball, pass a ball or shoot straight.

From the land of total football, we got the only one who was total shite. :coffee:

Fitbaw folk kent what he did for the team.
Like Wiss and Hamilton before him they did immense amounts of unseen work.

Never saw it myself to be honest.

He was the first neither footed player I'd ever seen.
I'm thinking of changing my user name as a tribute to him.

I agree. Hughes had a decent attempt at the Pools, anyone who doubts this might like to read the Pooly bunker they are surprised he wasnt given a fighting chance. No support during the last window. Hughes might not have worked for us but ffs anyone must think this sacking is either premature or just a joke. Good luck to John whatever happens...

:thumbgrin You should.

This is a name which should never be forgotten.....even if whatever...:dunno:....he contributed to Hibs already has.

How do you know they sacked him for performance reasons?
He might have alienated his squad because he's an arsehole of a man.

Graeme Smith, Edwin de Graaf, Michael Hart, Nish v Maribor, Motherwell 6-6 Hibernian, Paddy Cregg, 4 first team goalies etc....

It was bad enough sitting behind the goals at the Maribor game witnessing him leaving our best two strikers sitting on the bench, but the one that stick in my gut is when he was laughing with fat Broon at the end of 'that' game. Any little respect i had for him after that soon dissapeared.

Hey mate, I dont, I dont have any inside info. If he is an arsehole of a man then I dont know that either. All I can say is if you look at his record at the Pools and given when he came in then his record is, decent, as our manager would say. Im just giving my opinion. cheers,

No need to be rattled by my post.
Hartlepool will be looking for promotion next season, Hughes is not the man for that job as squad harmony is key.
Rable rousing is all good and well in a relegation scrap, John Brown and Paolo Di Canio being good examples. It takes a manager with a brain, strict discipline and/or man management to win a promotion.
If you think Yogi is capable of any of that you can't have been paying much attention during his tenure.

Sorry guys was at the football.

You may well be right, I just remember watching and enjoying the games, the rest of the reading in this thread brings back more memories..

Graeme Smith, Edwin de Graaf, Michael Hart, Nish v Maribor, Motherwell 6-6 Hibernian, Paddy Cregg, 4 first team goalies etc....

That's bad reading eh... No I never left at 2-6 thinking job done.

What game was that?

I think it may have been the game that was quoted to you, Zemmama argued with Riordan over a freekick and duly popped it in at the front post, beauty.
And Liam Miller absolutely ran the show that day, perfect performance from the wee guy.
I could be getting games mixed up though because I thought the score was more than that, looking back I could be combining 2 separate games.... But Liam Miller and Zemmama's freekick stand out in a brilliant performance from what I remember.

Looking back a bit more I think everyone else is probably right about Hughes, some of the decisions once the form went out the window and some of the players... Leaves a lot to be desired, and he was definitely a bully, lots of stories about it, including at Livingstone I believe?

thankfully was at the Ray Davies gig at the Usher Hall the night of that rescheduled thursday night fir park debacle.

great gig somewhat interrupted by southfield texting me after every goal as requested..

and who can forget stokes and deeks on the bench that rainy night in maribor..

That Maribor game still sticks in the throat Robbie, feckin planes, trains, and one-eyed taxi drivers to get us there, and we're pumped as soon as the line-ups are announced! As has been said before on here; an example of Hughes trying to make the "big decision" and getting it spectacularly wrong :banger:

Hey Buddy this is a football forum. Ive less need to be rattled than when the bedroom tax guys come. All im saying is that if you look at John Hughes record at Hartlepool then its not too shabby. As I said previously it maybe that he didnt fit in with us then thats fine but in my opinion and seemingly a lot of Pools fans he was emptied too soon. Maybe you have a better perspective and have worked with Yogi if that is the case then I bow to your knowledge. GGTH

I stand corrected on the 6-2. He still, humped the gunts a few times
Sauzee was a failure as manager ( Ayr at hampden anyone!) but know one , including me would call him a buffoon.
I think JH deserves a bit respect from Hibs supporters. Is it because he is history that folk on here think its ok degrade him. ?While at the same time treating any criticism of our current manager as some form of blasphemy
By all means give your critical views on him , but there is no need for the" idiot, buffoon" slagging he gets

I think :dunno: what I'm getting at , is that I wouldn't say something on here, that I wouldn't say to their face. And I just don't feel comfortable with proud Hibs captains getting fucking dogs abuse , just because it didn't work out as a manager

Im quite sure that perhaps a few folks would tip a cold beer with Mr Hughes. Apart from ripping him a new one here. My point is different. He did a competent job with the Pools yet some folks give him a hard time. Why? dont get it. Not sure why we are so bitter.Anyhow to sleep.GGTH
