I remember a player called Lentini (sp) going for £13m and the English press slaughtering it, it will kill the game etc…. Funny how when it became the fashion in the English game it was suddenly ok…. And they actually fawn over the fact, edp when absolute mundane English players go for clear ridiculous over pricing because they are english… feck knows why… theyve never produced any of the best players in the world in my lifetime.
Sky was the start off it and it wasn’t because their players were great.. tv audiences helped them kill the game

I get that Hattie but no Scottish referees in 10 years at major tournaments. It’s a sad state of affairs.
170 referees made the cut even the great Nick Walsh who the SFA adore didnt get there.

Reliance is definitely an issue.
Linesman, no using their flag when someone is clearly offside, letting the game play on just to flag 10 seconds later is a complete nonsense.
But in games against certain opposition that flag goes up instantly...
There's no consistency in the rules or how they're used.
Here at least. Dunno so much about elsewhere.

I was excited when it was first announced the WC was being held in the States, but feel the complete opposite now. I think the atmosphere is going to be shit and the prices just fucking outrageous. The games being held in Mexico will no doubt have a much better atmosphere and probably cheaper too.

Much as I hate to defend FIFA, but how is this their fault and not just price gouging? Surely fans are just using public transport the same as residents? Apologies if I'm missing something here.

I'm guessing the host cities expected more funding from Fifa/sponsors and are now looking at any way they can claw back money, to the detriment of the paying fans.
The percentage increases they are putting on the trains, buses, parking etc are beyond taking the piss and if I was going to any of those games and having no other option than forking out those ridiculous amounts I would be trashing the train on my way off.
