Can anyone tell me why this keeps popping up on my laptop.

It happens almost everyday. I know my details are correct so it is doing my head in.

I've tried to find an answer without success so I am turning to the place I should have gone first.

Any help?

I had this, or similar, a couple of years ago.
Think it had something to do with using outlook as mail client, and maybe has a couple of email addresses feeding into it. I'm trying (and failing) to remember how I fixed it. I think I downloaded a patch from the microsoft site which allowed the likes of a bt mail and a hotmail to be downloaded.
Sorry - I can't remember much more. Not a lot of help.

Might seem like a stupid question but you tried clicking the wee box underneath password box?

I've only got one email address going in to outlook Doc. I've interrogated microsoft to see if there is a solution but I cant find anything there. Ta anyway.

What email address is it?

I know that if I have my work emails going into the email client on my phone, then the mail server requires the client to be password protected.

Assuming you're using Windows 7 and Office 2003/7/10/13?

According to the link below, your Username should be appended with @btinternet which I don't see in the screenshot.

If that doesn't fix it, next thing I would do is run a repair on Office

Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and features -> Highlight Microsoft Office... and click on Change at the top of the pane In the box that opens, click the Repair radio button and click continue (That may fix it but I'm not over confident as it rarely fixes anything but who knows)

Also, if it flat refuses to remember your password, then Credential manager may be playing up. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Credential Manager then:

Click on the Down arrow next to any credentials that Mention Outlook or BT internet and click on Remove from vault. This will make windows forget them and you will need to input them again

If none of these work, then you could try and get rid of the .pst file (the local copy of your mail)

This is *should* be in C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook and are indicated by the Outlook icon with a little blue arrow pointing left & right under it. Cut and paste it into another folder and start Outlook, it will then re-download all your mail from the BT server.

NOTE: Appdata is a hidden folder so if you can't see it when you get as far as C:\Users\Yourusername then you need to View hidden files/folders. To do this, Click on Organize in the top left of the Explorer Pane, Click on Folder and search options, Click on the View tab then look for the Hidden Files and Folders section and click on the Show hidden files, folders, and drives radio button.

If that doesn't work could try removing and re-adding your Outlook Profile using the settings in the below link, but if that doesn't work then you would need to use their webmail interface at http://home.bt.yahoo.com/

To remove and re-add your Outlook profile:

Click on the Outgoing Server tab
Click the box beside My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and ensure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
Click on the Advanced tab
Under Incoming Server (IMAP) Change the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down menu to SSL. This should change the port to 993, if it doesn't type 993 in manually
Under Outgoing server (SMTP) Change the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down menu to SSL. This should change the port to 465, if it doesn't type 465 in manually
Click OK.
Click Next. Outlook will test your Account Settings.
You will see two ticks click Close.
Outlook will confirm you have added an account.

Dub, if that doesn't work - try switching it off and then back on again.

Thanks for taking the time to answer mate. I will have a bash at sorting out the issue using your comprehensive instructions.
