What Choons Yi Listening To?

Big Country- The Crossing
Going to see the tomorrow night 40 th Anniversary tour of the release of the Album
Your more than 20 years too late.

Coincidentally I also saw Big Country play in Galashels but it was 40 years ago when they played at what is now the Heriot Watt campus.
Still got my ticket.
It was a warm up for playing at Wembley Arena with The Jam at their farewell gigs between the 2nd and the 5th December 1982 (I may have some the details wrong given it was 40 years ago).

And now for something completely different...

Listening to one of my dad's Charlie Parker records.Called Greatest Hits.Especially pleasing since my mum isn't saying 'turn that noise down'.

OK.

My favourite Scottish band is SAHB and this is one of my favourite tracks.

Great tune and great lyrics.

Come on the Dub.

Gies some of yours.
No idea how I missed these at the time. SAHB are an all time favourite of mine.

Some of my other favourite stuff;

ACDC
Dr Dre
Eminem
Dire Straits
Rod Stewart
Notorious BIG
The Proclaimers [natch]

The list, as I alluded to 13 years ago, is almost endless but I don't like Rat Pack stuff and that ilk.

Going to see a Stone Roses Tribute band tonight got this on Spotify to warm up

Another one of my dad's records,Stardust by Lionel Hampton. What a fucking record!

Great stuff.
I love his vibraphone playing in the last section of the 15 minute version.

My best mate died 4 years ago. Nothing has ever hit me so hard. His wife put a playlist of his favourite songs on Spotify. We had very similar musical taste so I often play it. Just back from a run in the car and had it blasting out the speakers. The years melted away and it felt like he was beside me having a laugh like the old days.
I'd never heard of anyone doing this before but it's a great idea to help preserve someones memory.

Keep you amused for a bit

Too much?.
What aboot this?.

I've never been Billy Idol's biggest fan, but I came across this the other day and it's a great song.

I normally prefer live versions, old or new.

No me, another. 20 years’ll. dae

They are barely a-live
Like two old women.
Billy's coupon needs a gid ironin'.

Peev saying he prefers live versions got me thinking about great live stuff.
In 1966 Buck Owens and the Buckeroos released a live album recorded at the Carnegie Hall in New York. What a record it is.
The Buckeroos were a top notch band with a great guitarist in Don Rich. Really loved his clean solo tone and the A1 steel player Tom Brumley.
Think I must have been the only 18 year old enthralled by Owens, punk and reggae in 1978. Kept it well quite as country music was seen as distinctly uncool.
Here's a clip from Buck Owens TV show, also from 1966, containing the trademark harmonies of Owens and Rich as well as the latters great guitar work.
