Any of you lot ever been to Wembley? I'm heading down for the Johnstone Paint Trophy final in a couple of weeks. Crewe v Southend. My colleague at work is a Crewe fan and he asked me if I fancied it. Night out in London then Wembley. Hell yeah I thought! So anyone been?

Yeah I was there for the 2011 Champions League Final (Barcelona section) and had a fantastic time. The surrounding area is a bit grim but the stadium itself is quite impressive-it certainly puts that shithole Hampden to shame.

I went to carling cup final a few years back. We got half way line seats and it was good day.. We got on the beer in central London and got tube to ground.

Went to the old Wembley now that was a hell hole, awful.

Been three times to the old Wembley....an England v Scotland game in the late 80's, a Michael Jackson gig in the mid 90's, and finally a tour around the stadium a year or so before it was demolished. I'd love to see the new stadium as it looks great on the TV.

It's not the easiest place to get to from central London and has been said the area surrounding the stadium is not the most salubrious, but the stadium itself is well worth a visit

Heading down in August with 20,000 Scotland fans, can't wait.

Won't be sitting in some square with radges in a kilt all that day though, that's for sure.

Indeed it does and the reason is fairly straightforward. The cost of a refurb at Hampden was around 25million whereas the amount spunked on the new Wembeleee was 798 million. Your taxes and oil revenues at work for the benefit of all.

Vote independence.

Yip,I'm sure Gunner posted details before on how we got bummed out of a whole new stadium.

Went down for Swansea v Bradford last month. Excellent stadium.

been to the old wembley a few times to watch liverpool in the late 80's early 90's, been to the new wembley just once to watch a play off final a couple o years ago, but also going to head there in august wi the tartan army

Ach well at least we'll soon have a single tram line for much the same price, result!!

never been but headin down for the scotland game in august as well..

Haven't been to the 'new' Wembley.

Anyone want to buy a piece of 'old' wembley goal net?:rascal::rascal:

Was there for the Leeds v Doncaster promotion playoff in 2008  unfortunately Doncaster very much deserved their promotion based on that one off match.

Fantastic stadium, great public transport infrastructure via the Tube.

Thanks for all your responses. Really looking forward to it. Don't know much about the two teams though!

I'm going down in August for the Scotland game too.

Tram will be open 365 days a year and the atmosphere will be excellent, everyone will have their beachballs and spades for the Spanish holiday:-)

I was there twice to see Scotland and don't think we had a worthwhile shot on target. Horrible place and atmosphere was one of pure hatred, I loved it.

It's not that difficult a ground to get to as just go to Trafalgar Square and its either the Jubilee or Metropolitan underground lines straight there.

I think you have quite a big hike at the other end but you then walk up Wembley Way and the impressive stadium looms up out of the distance.

I always admire English people as total power gives you absolute control and you don't need to justify yourself to anyone and they certainly done themselves proud with their National Stadium.:thumbgrin

Just to be clear. Trafalgar Square isn't a tube stop. Make your way to Baker Street to get the choice of service to Wembley Park station but services are very regular indeed so anywhere on those lines will do you. Wembley Central station is a walk away and the rail service from Marylebone is infrequent so I would avoid those two.

The area is a bit of a non-event as has been stated. Its being redeveloped to try and provide more facilities for supporters, etc.. but its not going to make much difference for a while yet.

The stadium is magnificent. They are going to move the football museum there at some point whuch should be worth a visit. Hope they keep it open on a match day unlike to dopes at Preston where it is at the moment (another masterful Millennium investment - not).

Yes - went to the Swansea - Reading play off final a couple of years ago and it was really well organised with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Toilets and refreshment facilities in abundance etc etc - Hard to fault to be honest.

Been there for a Muse gig. Fucking massive and impressive. Glad it was music I went for.

Went to see Portsmouth win the FA cup, 5 years ago I think?

Great stadium, really is.

Been twice as a play-off final loser with the Blades (probably soon to be a hat-trick) and twice to cheer on Warrington v Leeds in the Challenge Cup. Your experience of the place differs greatly depending on the result...

Getting there is easy enough on tube or train from Marylebone to Wembley Park which takes about seven minutes. Make sure you've done all your food and drink stuff before you get in the ground . Baker Street and envions should be avoided for England Scotland as all the main "firms" tend to congregate there and the pubs in and around Gt Portland St are nicer anyway.

One thing the new place lacks is atmosphere, certainly in comparison to Hampden because the place is too big and too many corporate seats which act as dead spots. Too sanitized and too much of an "experience" for my liking,oh and each and every steward is an absolute clart.

The FA stadium moved from Preston to Manchester in early 2012. Just in case anyone was thinking of travelling to Deepdale to see it.

Last time I was there was 1979 I think.

Carnage.
grandpa

Was my first of three at the old Wembley, (not been to the new one) the second was '81 and the last time when it kicked off all over the place was in 1988.

Seeing Scotland win there is still one of my most memorable trips watching fitba.
