I don't think I know anyone who prenounces it Wed nes day it's always been Wed ens day to me . So why do we persist with it? I say we get a campaign together to get it changed to 'Wedensday'.

Odin's day to us in the far right community Findlay, or Wotan's day for the real bammers.

That said, I take your point and you have my undying support.

On a related note, in a recent idle moment the bottom fell out of my world when I realised that we should really choose between how Edinburgh is spelled and pronounced.

I am quite well travelled (UK wise) and I reckon the pronunciation most used is "Wensday". I have never used any other pronunciation although Mrs Wishbone has always said "Wedensday".

Add in Choc-o-late. Choclit.
Agree re Wedensday.
The way I say Edinburgh, the 'r' sounds like it comes before the 'u'

It’s the pronunciation of digital as ‘digical’ and nuclear as nyoo-cyoo-lur that irks me.

Probably should be on the Little Things That Annoy You thread🤔
Here's one. The people who say "particularly" a lot are weather presenters. Try to find one, especially female who doesn't say "ticuly"

It's December.

This takes me back to a conversation I had with an American guy in the pub.

He pronounced it Edinbro [as most Americans would]. I told him it was Edinburgh so he tried it snd couldn'tget.

I tried to help by splitting the word up ;

It went -
Say Ed [Ed he repeated]
Say in [in he said]
Say burr [burr]
Now say Uh [Uh went well]

All was going smoothly until he put them all together, forgot the mini lesson, and reverted to Edinbro. We had a laugh about it though.
