Northern Ireland Secretary Theresa Villiers has rejected the request by the victims families for a public inquiry into the Omagh bombing.

Giving the evidence and allegations put forward by the families im not surprised its been rejected.

The group has obtained 4,000 emails written to an FBI handler by agent David Rupert, who successfully infiltrated the Real IRA, which carried out the bombing. Mr Ruperts evidence led to the conviction of the organisations leader. Mr Gallagher said the material showed that Mr Rupert had sent an enormous amount of money and bomb components to the Real IRA from the US. He said: My question is: how far away was this from state-sponsored terrorism?

at the very least the pertinent questions asked by the families appear to require a response, will they be able to get that by going to court? who knows but you'd think it'd be in the interests of both governments to get to the truth?

Well the answer to that question would seem to be very very far away. Thee are however clearly more sensible questions that need answered here.

The victims family group have studied the evidence that they are privy too, and deem it a sensible question to ask how close to state-sponsor terrorism this was.

Are you implying its not a sensible question? if so, why?:dunno:

Because there is no suggestion of state sponsorship - an undercover op being botched is not state sponsorship

How do you know there is no suggestion, you haven't seen the evidence.

The families have seen the evidence and are asking the question how close to state-sponsored terrorism this was.

Maybe not, but according to the article the quote relates to an undercover operation against the IRA - which is very far away from state sponsored terrorism.
