Just been confirmed after latest appeal court appearance that the club will now disappear from pro football in NL as it loses its pro license from the KNVB.

At 133 years old, they were 2nd oldest team in Holland and spent 39 of those years in the top tier.

They can appeal this latest ruling but not in time to avoid dropping out of pro football this season.

Sad that.
Always remember maybe 13 years ago in the Irish bar in Rotterdam speaking to a huge Vitesse fan.
Vitesse really seemed on the up,he was telling me of the Great plans for them.

All seemed tobe working at that time too.

I wondered what was going on when I seen their odds on a fitba bet a while ago.

My mates boy played for the first team there only about 4 years ago, they met Tottenham in the europa league that year. Then I think the Russians invaded the Ukraine and Russian oligarchs money was frozen, Vitesse were owned by a Russian , the money dried up and it went downhill from there as I remember.

That's exactly it, NH. The Russian oligarch beat it while he could and left a right old mess.

If they want, they may attempt a restart as an amateur side if the KNVB will accept that. In the 4th or 5th tier or summat.

...well, it IS the Vitesse Arnhem and guess what, they're back!

Bit of a new Sevco feel to it but after last minute deals they are being let into the Eerste Divisie, the second tier here (2 tier football, yah?).

Think they have to start next year tho, will check later.
