Tierney and McKenna both out injured for Tuesdays game along with suspended McTominay.
McLean for McTominay and Taylor for Tierney are major downgrades and McKenna's absense means we don't have a left sided centre half. A very tired and depleted team now.
Kingsley and McKay added to the squad.

Meanwhile our opponents made 11 changes from the Scotland game for the Armenia game including bringing back 3 players who were in their team when they defeated us in June. They appear to have targetted their best effort for Tuesday knowing our players have been playing eyes out. It's looking like they have calculated well.

Is it too late to call up Paul Hanlon for the left side defender position?
Or is he committed to shagging Pistol’s bird senseless?
Could he do several positions?

And still play football?

They still have to win.
Balls in our court, pull this off and its 3 of the best results in a week ever.

Ignoring the Pistol Pete stuff for now,
I thought that Hanlon would be a whole lot more use than Mhairi McKay given our lack of a left sided CH. Would even have been tempted to play him and Porteous in a back 4 because they are used to playing alongside each other.
As things stand it looks like someone will play out of position given all 3 CH options are right sided. None of the options have played together so it has mix up written all over it.
Porteous is a similar player to McKenna so that would be the option which would allow Scotland to play the same system as they have played in the last 2 games but he loses lots playing on the left. Is it possible they put Hendry on the left and Porteous on the right? Kingsley is the other option.
Almost forgot Diplodocus Gallagher who is slow, likely to play folk onside and give away a penalty but he is in the squad so will be under consideration for his experience.
Clarke will already have decided what's happening and all will be revealed in about 40 hours.

They are fresh with no suspensions and only two injuries.
We are knackered, have one suspension and nine injuries.
Midfielders McGinn, McGregor, Christie and Armstrong have done an awful lot of running in the last 4 days. McClean will take over from McTominay. Jack is another midfield grafter so might play ahead of Armstrong to give our midfield more legs and bite.
That would leave us with 5 middle to front subs Armstrong, Fraser, Dykes, Gilmour and McKay. We will have to use our 5 subs wisely to try to effectively cover our midfields tiredness.

Sounds daft to me tbh.

All they had to do was beat us last week and it'd have been over.

Might work out in the end for them, but risky business if they threw the game away like you think here.
Hope it backfires on them spectacularly.

We'll get it done.

Wonder if Porto will play now McKenna is out? Be a bit of a boot in the baws if Clarke picks Kingsley or Gallagher ahead of him given neither were in the initial squad?

You’ve not considered two of the most crucial aspects of football, confidence and momentum. The Scottish players who have been involved in the last two fixtures will be full of it, and will carry that into this game.

Can’t say the Ukrainians have that on their side, they either play the same second string or revert to the first team who were well beaten by Scotland. Either way they have the more difficult selection decisions to me, freshness isn’t everything.

For Steve Clarke it’s a case of filling in the gaps left by McKenna, Tierney and McTominay. Big holes in the squad, but not irreplaceable. I reckon Adams will come back in for Dykes as we’ll need to press, so that’ll be four changes. The rest should be carrying on their fine form and we’ve decent options on the bench to come in when required.

Taylor will start in place of Tierney, he’s become a very good player and capable of filling in.

McTominay has been very good but for one game either McLean, Jack or Gilmour are capable of replacing him.

McKenna is the hardest one to replace (not many would have said that before these games) as he’s formed an excellent partnership with Hendry. Porteous should get his chance, but it’s a big ask and probably shows why he should have had at least some international minutes before now. Gallagher really isn’t the answer. Kingsley isn’t a proper centre half, can only see him playing if we switch to a back 3 (which would be a mistake).

They didn't throw the last game but always knew their best chance was to win the last game of a triple header after resting the players in game 2 whilst we remained foot to the metal.

I think you're giving them far too much credit.

Perhaps, time will tell but the game schedule has played into their hands.
Do you think Hickey will make it or are we going at another downgrade in Ralston?
The quality of the Scotland team has grown to a point where it showed last Wednesday that it can play to a very high standard.
However, that team has been decimated for Tuesdays game.
Whatever happens it is clear that the team is moving forward with a new system of play at the back and the right back position is now sorted with 2 quality EPL right backs. Hickey in particular looks very good. McTominay, Hendry, McKenna and Adams all look to be improving and Fraser has returned.

I think he is too but we’ve been here before with Scotland many times - put ourselves in a great position only to go and blow it. Can remember 2 losses in Georgia coming off the back of great results, or more recently we only needed I think a point from our final 2 group B games to win the group in 2020 and lost both. And then our most recent failure on the big occasion coming in the World Cup playoff.

Having said all that I’m quietly confident… 👀😂

Some form of virus in the camp and Adams and Dykes are ill.

Ukraine will revert back to the players from the first game and add the 3 players from June that they held back until the second game.

I hope so, it didn’t work for them first time around did it.

Aye being Hibs and Scotland is a rough ride.

But this group will be fired up, they've pulled 2 massive results and are a draw away from the goal.

I dont buy the Ukraine has engineered this to suit them on the last day, it is still on for them, but they're at a disadvantage.
Why would you take that risk when you could've went for it in the first game of the series?

I hope so, it didn’t work for them first time around did it.
The Scotland team was far stronger and fresher the first time around and Ukraine will be adding 3 of their best players to the previous mix. Don't know why they didn't play in the first game. So 3 upgrades for them from the previous game and 3 downgrades for Scotland with a wee viral chaser on top.

Better with points in the bag everyday

I think you’ve bypassed my initial point about “freshness” not being the single most important factor and there being other considerations which are more important.

Agree the team will be weaker without McKenna, Tierney and McTominay but then again the squad was always going to have to be used, I think it’s better getting six points out of six with our strongest team. Ukraine have to play for the win, which will suit our counter attacking abilities.

What’s a viral chaser?

I hope you are right.

There is apparently a viral infection in the Scotland camp which is currnently affecting both Adams and Dykes. So it is a wee chaser on top of the injuries and suspension.

So do I! Mind you if I’m not, my second team Ukraine will top the group so not all bad for me!

There’s a photo of Dykes, McGinn and others out for dinner yesterday so hopefully the viral infection is just a rumour.

The virus story came from Clarke.
Adams trained today so he can't be that bad.
If he plays 70 minutes, Dykes even with a cold will easily manage the final 20.

They did qualify for the last euros with a penalty shoot out win away to serbia mind ( unbelievably mitrovic missing his pen )

Exactly , he’ll be totally pissed of if he’s not involved at all . Feel for the laddie 😡

Massive game tonight , win the group and scotland will be the only british team at the top table in europe after england AND wales getting relegated

Yep, that was a great away performance and something we will need to replicate tonight. We deserved to win in 90 minutes that night, shouldn't have even gone to penalties.

Armstrong, Taylor and Fraser now have the sickness bug in addition to Adams and Dykes.

Not a bad side.

Think we surprise @Jack K tonight!

We really are down to the bones.
Only 4 outfield players remain from the starting team 6 days ago.
Hopefully the virus in the camp doesn't hamper them as well.
It's gonna be tough.

That's why we have a squad felly, such doom and gloom.

Anyone else think Che Adams is a dead ringer for Andrew Shim? ( played Milky in This is England)
