Yes, the UDA are very much still in existence, in SCOTLAND.

Mags Hainey got vilified by every media outlet in Scotland, yet Johnny Adair and his UDA cronies are obliterating Ayrshire and Southwest Scotland with heroin*, and there's nothing said about it in our MSM.

*You only need to Google it to see local newspaper headlines about them terrorising the whole region. There's community meetings, councillors, MSPs all talking about it.

But it's not in the daily papers.

No comment from St Pats branch? The guy is so obviously connected to the UDA its embarrassing to think no one knew that when he was invited to speak (that is of course if it IS true) :read:

To be fair I saw our normal spokesman carrying the St Pats banner up to the back of the East on Saturday.

He looked $&*_/"$/, he may not have made it back down yet.

Might have had a wee beer or two and didnt get what I wanted to say right but why was the St Pats Branch having as I have been told is a UDA loyalist connected guy talking at a meeting?

Really disappointed in you amigo. To be honest I just saw this ,as the work of our Branch is pretty much integrated onto the main Bounce forum now. As you have been told is aping a Private message to one of our Committee members which I was shown after the St. Johnstone game. The derision of the content was palpable. The content I guess was circulated by the James Connolly Society folk. Tell me if I am wrong.

Ian is an academic ,who when researching his acclaimed books on the Troubles has met with and discussed with leading figures from both the IRA and the UDA, would it be otherwise? The conclusion about him and the UDA is pathetic. Watch his talk on our St. Pat's website where he said that the top Orangeperson walks like a penguin and stays in the same street in Porty and visited the guy when he was ill. Deary me. His account of Protestant Action in Edinburgh between the wars was excellent .

His book 'Crimes of Loyalty: A History of the UDA' is spot on. I will lend it to you and you can stomach the pish you have been fed.

'Sectarian murder, torture, bloody power struggles and racketeering are what for many define their image of the Ulster Defence Association. Yet as Northern Ireland's Troubles worsened in 1971 and 1972, it emerged with a mass membership to defend Loyalist areas against the IRA and to uphold the Union with Britain. By 1974 it was able to defy the will of an elected government and it went on to formulate political strategies for working-class Loyalism . Ian S. Wood uses his specialist knowledge as well as extensive interviews to recount these events and the ruthless war waged by the UDA on the nationalist community. He explores issues such as the UDA's descent into criminality and its relationship with the 'secret war' conducted by Britain's undercover services and he assesses what impact the organisation had on the outcome of Europe's worst political and ethnic conflict between 1945 and the break-up of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia after 1990.

Watch and learn amigo, Ian, Socialist and Scottish Nationalist is involved in this excellent film about James Connolly. So is no other than Hibby James Slaven of the James Connolly Society. Oh the utter irony.

Proud to have Ian as a St. Patrick's Branch member.

In the spirit of Christmas , I think this thread and the other connected one flying about should be put down to some folk getting the wrong end of the stick. It appears it is not much more than a misunderstanding and tempers and reputations are potentially getting lost.

Don't want to get involved cause I don't really ken what it's all about, but it's all a bit non bounce and unchristmas like.

Hibby Christmas all bouncers :bbb:

I go along with this, it has indeed been a misunderstanding going on information I was given, I would like to say sorry to anyone who is angry about this and I will make sure that I seek Ian personally and give him my sincere apology.

newhoose I was late seeing this thread and while you have at least attempted to apologise I found your ill conceived and ignorant comments about my dad to be offensive ( although I suspect he would laugh at them).

you wrote the following lies;

' Ian Wood was good friends with UDA commander John McMichael who the IRA killed years ago. That's who he is referring to when he says he had a 'friend' killed. He also acknowledges his friendship with JG McLean from the Lothian Loyalist Coalition. Woods used to travel over to Drumcree with him. He was even at last year Flag riots.'

as Gordon has said perhaps you should have taken the time to think about what the work of a writer / historian / broadcaster entails and considered his many writings and interviews on irish and scottish history from gerry adams to johnny adair and beyond before starting this pish.

please do not bother attempting to ' seek him out personally' and talk about this, we watch hibs together and really have better things to do than engage with the misguided speculation of imbeciles.

thanks to southfield and big g for their words, el fletch if you have nothing intelligent to say why get involved.
