A lifetime ago we used to take copper cable we'd knicked, and spent hours burning the casing off, to a scrappy who kept 2 ferocious dogs chained to his scales. We could never get close enough to see the weight so he cheated us every time.
Then we were told by someone in the know that he had got the contract to demolish a recently closed and unused social club and obviously profit from all copper/lead etc. We knew the date he was to start so 2 nights before a team of us went in and stripped the place of every inch of copper wire, burnt it and sold it to him the next day
