Just sat eating dinner in my hotel in Manchester earwigging a couple of tories (an MP and a Peer I think) discussing the merits of establishing a Northern Alliance, a cross party group for England's north and Scotland, to counter London's control of the wealth and th ethreat of Scottish independence. Much pish was spouted about Scotland and its chances of independence (although they admitted a fear of success in the yes vote), but my evening was made when they discussed their proposed representatives, who included Alistair Campbell, Alistair Darling, Michael Heseltine, some Tory I have never heard of, Michael Moore and business leaders they couldn't think of (lets hope its that dozy boot Michelle Moan). The fait de complee was their plan to meet with the 'boss at Glasgow Council', to gain his support, whih would get the 'Labour Scots onside'.
