We got Butchet in cos he did great things on a shoestring with Ross C and look how that turned out!

I'd prefer for the long run a youngish but not starter coach who could dovetail into the new infrastructure Hibs are trying to create. Not boythrred if no SPFL experience either, tho would be nice.
It was Inverness the useless hun bastard came from.

Because he was such a useless backward Hun bastard history will forget the January contribution from our board in backing him in the January 2014 window....

Some of the names we are being linked with are pretty uninspiring I have to say. I.e. the Aussie coach and Lee Clark. I don't think Gemmil has enough experience at our league level tbh. There should be one target and that is Steve Clarke. I think he is a realistic target.

One arguement for a number of managers is that they’ve done well on a shoestring, so should be able to do well with more. I don’t really believe that to be the case, some simply work better in a smaller environment with less expectation, and have players who similarly work well in that environment.

Stepping up to a club with a large football department, top facilities, and an expectant fan base is not something everyone can deal with, regardless of how well they’ve done elsewhere.

Perhaps the reason why Stubbs & Lennon have done well here is that they’re used to that “big club” feel, whereas the likes of Butcher, Fenlon & even Hughes didn’t.

For me Lennon broke the mould of what Hibs are set up for, and that was the right decision as we absolutely had to get out of the Championship. The season we then had last year was brilliant in re-establishing us a top club. But the next appointment should go back to the model - a Head Coach, with a couple of assistants, working with the recruitment/scouting/fitness departments rather than running them.

Completely agree with this - Steve Clarke should be approached as next manager asap - get him in NOW and although not ideal, at least gives him a day to chase / finalise any transfers. I.E Players he wanted at Killie but didn't have large enough budget - not saying ours is massive but MUST be bigger than Killie etc

It was a horrendous window as was the previous summer. We signed a quality of player who shouldn't be near Easter Road. That said Duncan Watmore not the worst we've ever signed.

Transfer Deadline Day: Hibs land Watmore, Boateng & Haynes
I qiute agree - some shocking signings. Although Watmore was excellent and suffered from over-lenient referees clogging him to slow him down. He's done not bad though.

I suspect it was some of the horrendous signing of that period that caused (or helped cause) the creation of 'specialist depts' with one looking at recruitment, rather than just being at the whim of an already overworked manager.

Not a chance Steve Clarke will be our manager. His next club will 100% be celtic.

I'd like Gordon Strachan but feel it will more likely be someone like a Gary Caldwell or a Kevin Harper. Lennon wasn't a yes man and the only way you succeed at hibs is to know your role, don't question the transfer budget, have no ambition (other than to finish top six n maybe a cup run) and most importantly you must adhere to and follow orders and strict guidelines from the board.

A stool at the bar
Just said on the telly, BBCLies, that Alan Stubbs would be interested in returning to our club.

If it's not to be AS I think we maybe need a big name again. Someone with a big club attitude, with the same baws as Neil Lennon, someone who fears no-one (except Leeann ;-).

Or someone like AS from a big clubs system, dare I say the sevco manager came from the same background and is doing better than we all thought.

No idea who this person might be.

I'd happily see Stubbs back at ER along with Doolan. Perfect fit for me. Strachan can GTF far as i am concerned.. Outside of his cash strewn tenure at the Smellies he has done sod all of note in his managerial career. Unless getting Coventry relegated counts !!!

Did he not knock us back previously ?

My thoughts as well.
