It seems an age since the likes of Mystic Meg and Noel Edmonds graced our TV screens.Thousands of millionaires have been created,Olympic medals have been won and people still do it.Personally I only do Euromillions these days.I have never won any more than £120.I still do it because if I won I would be able to set up my immediate family,I would be able to do stuff like buy Hibs shares and give causes that I believe in like Scottish C.N.D. a real boost. So;does anyone else do them?

Rarely do it these days. When they added more numbers i lost interest. Most I've won is £25.

I've won more off the Bonus Ball in my local pub!!

I do the weekend draws for both . Never won more than £20.
It would be nice knowing that your immediate family were always going to be financially sound. And yeah, I would like to buy some influence into Hibs , however small that may be.
But for the price of a pint a week, I reckon it’s worth the gamble.

Very well 'Moatied' Findlay... The lottery turned 30 in February - that was also when Camelot ceased to operate it.
I've done 1 line, picked entirely randomly on the first week, for that entire 30+ years.
And a second line based on the date, time and birth weight of my daughter since she was born.
She was 25 in July!!
Most I've ever won was (twice) just over a hundred quid.
I intermittently do the euros but only with lucky dip numbers.

I ran an office syndicate that won about £12k between 10 of us.

I'm sure it was 5 correct numbers and the 6th was one away, something like 37 when we had 38. It was made worse by the right number being on 6 or 7 other lines!

I do the Euromillions now and win a few quid now and again - sometimes even enough for a pint!

I remember being 17 and going half's with my mate for 50p each. Nailed the first 3 numbers in a row and thought we were on. Sadly just scored a tenner.

Oh well the BBC had it down as 30 years today.Otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it.

I might be wrong..... Don't think I am but you never know 🤔
If I am I'll buy you all a beverage of your choice as soon as I win the lotto jackpot 👍

Edit: After a quick Google search I've discovered the franchise was awarded to Camelot in May '94 but the first draw was indeed Nov 19th of the same year.

I stand by my previous offer 💚

When did the lottery start in the UK?

19 November 1994

The first National Lottery draw took place on 19 November 1994. Since then, it has raised over £48 billion for good causes and supported 685,000 projects. Around 1% of total revenue is retained in profit, with 95% going to winners and society.8 Feb 2024

Mines an Americano... unless I come off the wagon by the time you win the jackpot.:giggley:

Seems to of really improved the place.

For the Trillions put in throughout the world in bloody lotteries.

The same people are getting all the cash, and dictating how you will live!

Ex wife was in a syndicate of 10. Each member got a turn of putting it on. Ticket was put in a glass where they worked so each member could see it when they came on shift. One week there was no ticket in the glass, the person who's turn it was said they forgot to put it on.
Within a few months they were building a new house and boasting of an imported Italian marble kitchen and top of the range fittings. Much suspicion and anger as you can imagine but no proof. I believe one member approached Camelot but got no info or help from them.
A couple of years later the local newsagent retired. A well loved character who, when interviewed by the local newspaper and asked about his memories said amongst other things, "and there was a local woman who won £400,000 on a lottery ticket she bought here" 😡😡😡😡

Not done it for decades but used to do it at the start. Put the same numbers on every week then switched to random as the thought of not putting them on and them coming in was too much.

Overthinking you might say, but then I know a guy would did likewise. Then the midweek draw came along and, having just got married, he decided he wasn’t going to shell out for a second ticket each week.

And his numbers came up in the very first midweek draw.

True story.

Thats the very reason I couldn't NOT do the Wednesday when it started as I couldn't stand the thought of my Saturday numbers which I knew so well coming up.
I never check the UK lottery results as the thought of my ex wife winning with these numbers would send me over the edge 🥴

Been doing the Dutch one for decades. Never ever won any cash but I get a 'prize' once or 2x a year with an online choice of items I can choose one from.

To my wholehearted delight, they are usually cosmetic products 😏 which I am only too glad 🤬 to pass on to x's and (mostly) female rellies...

Fkn lotteries. But hey ho, next week my ship cometh in.
