The Konte appreciation thread

But a real one for a change. If it wasn't for that stupid fecker Sproule getting sent off then we may have scraped a replay, and Konte would have been an integeral part. Yeh he isn't particualrly sly, agile or skilful, but he done his best today an i though he was a stand out for us today when he came on.Knocked the ball down into great positions for teammates to latch onto. Hope to see more performances like this from the big guy, its nice to see someone do the simple thing at Hibs for a change. he may never be a legend but he is indeed a worker (although, admittedly, a tad thick)
 
this has to be a joke.

Seriously though konte tries hard and I feel sorry for him. Didn't really do anything good today though.
 
i thought he done quite well, he played the easy ball and made it look simple- which most of the team never done today...
 
he didnt exactly change the game he wasni better than anything else we had on so why should we have an appreciation thread for someone that has done so little for the club.
 
I thought he looked slow and cumbersome, though a couple of times the Yams seemed to have problems getting the ball away from him, so he is also strong on the ball. Not my idea of a striker at all though, I'm afraid. I don't think he has a future at Hibs.

Well for a start he did chnge the game; previous to his appearance each of the balls into the hearts box or near it the hearts defence won the ball either in the initial aerial battle or in the fight for the scraps. When Konte came on he was able to control the direction of the ball in the air. Not just this but YET AGAIN his appearance and his first touch was met with jeering and sarcastic applause, yet he played on for the team, regardless of the shabby treatment he recieved. He may not be have the technical skill, but the rest of the team could learn from his spirit.:applause:

I agree with you Dixie, but i just think that he dosent deserve the ill- treatment he gets from so-called supporters:tuttut:
 
What is it with all these fecking appreciation threads popping up for people who clearly dont deserve it. Get a grip.
 
too be a wee bit fair to the big man killen isnt exactly much faster than konte but has evrything else that a striker needs and has much more quality.

Learn from his spirit :rollfloor this is the guy that turned his head to a high ball on the six yard line and let the ball hit his back. Like to see you are trying to keep morale up on a low mate but an appreciation thread for a donkey :hmmm nice try but not even a L & B for that one

Eduardo Hutardo ! lol he has to be the most Gash player ever to pull the Jersey on. I think big Konte needs a few starts as he seems to do well in the reserves and always gives defences problems with his physical bulk. It will be intresting now to see how Benji fits in,didn't really do much yesterday but how can you expect him to after being flung into a Semi Final ?

Agreed Dixie. Bottom line is that he's not good enough. In fact, nowhere near good enough.
 
To be fair, he came on and done something no one other than thomson done - put in some fight and effort.

The guy tries hard but it does not help when fans are waiting for a mistake to punce on him.
 
I think that people miss the influence that he sometimes has on games. To be honest, he is nothing more than a squad player, and is only thrown into the mix when the whole team is pish. Konte cannot win games on his own, he needs one or two attacking players around him to play well. He isn't going to score goals every week, even if he starts. But what he does is he nullifies (to an extent) the bullying that our small team is vulnerable to. He doesn't hold the ball for long, but he can knock it down to the feet of our more gifted players, allowing them to get a shot at goal. At hampden, we tried to play the long ball a few times in the second half, with no result because of hearts big defence. When konte camer on he was a lone striker, Sproule had lost the plot and then got sent off, Benji ( who had a couple of flashes of good play) was off and the teams only other attacking option was McClusky, who has some nice wee tricks, but will never be great unless he does what Brown done and bulks up. Konte won all of the high balls that came near him and even fought for a few that he was never going to get.
He knocked them down into space, but there was no-one there to capitalise. Personally i think that konte was the only player yesterday to really worry the Hearts defence, and in hind sight, he should've started, although TM may have never been forgiven by some of the fans. Hopefully the next time we play Hearts we will have a full squad, hey, Deano might even be fit, so Konte might not be necassary, but if we Killen is out i reckon Konte might be worth a start.
