So I was bored this morning and have been reading lots about our deal etc
SPFL Viewing figures this is a good read and shows most of the information that lets you see where we stand with overall viewing figures. For this we receive £18.95M a season to the league.
Now lets compare that with the EFL Champ Link to there top 10 games some high numbers there but they fall away quite steeply, its hard to get a figure for the championship on its own the EFL get £120M a year (for champ, the cups and L1) say we give them even split very conservative that is £40M a year for there second league.
Now lets look at Eredivisie and the Netherlands a league much like ours and a country with about the same population. there deal with Fox and the local Dutch broadcaster is worth around €80M a year £71M. With a peek viewing figure for last season of 986K (A record) for AJAX Feyenoord this puts them on near the same viewing figures as the EFL Champ.
the SFA are looking to get £40M for the new deal this year, I think they are underselling it. £50-60M is where they should be aiming this gets us back in the game.
The greater the money in the game the league becomes better and the peripheral clubs in Scotland get better and that breeds higher attendances and higher viewership and with beter wages we don't loose our best young players to a second tier league down south.
Thoughts?
If I am wrong on any of this please do point it out =)
