Spanish fitbaw!

I've long been an admirer of Spanish fitbaw!

Originally Real Madrid in the early 1990s. They played in groups of 3. A defensive 3 that could play midfield, and midfield 3 that could play defence or attack and an attacking 3 that could play midfield and probably a decent job in defence. The 3s played triangles round their opponents then passed to Bernhard Schuster who would decide what 3 got it next while he moved ready to make the killer pass. The three 3s swirled round opponents and hypnotized them till they were in a trance!

They memorized their opponents. At 4-1 (pen) down teams still tried to defend their goal difference.

Real Madrid were just a couple of goals short of a ton at the turn of the year!

Then there's Barcelona. In the last decade we've all seen what a wonderful team they are and such a joy to watch.

Slick, quick and deadly.

Spanish fitbaw is blessed. Albeit a familiar 2 team domain.

Tonight I watched Spain rip the normally unflappable Italy a new one.

Solid in defence with a forward 5 (FIVE) that was like mercury on a mirror.

As a team I reckon they're punching way above the weight of their undoubted talented individuals but punching they are.

And then you have the clinical machine dat ist Deutschland!

Scotland are setting up another glorious failure, sorry! It might be in qualifying where we fail on goal difference, if not we'll miss out on a last kick of the ball in the best of the rest shoot out. Our ultimate ambition will be undefeated in the first round of fixtures in the actual tournament itself and still go out. Been there done that!

England will be hyper hyped with little or no good reason by their media and as usual fall flat on their puss while their hooligan element will be destroyed in Russia with just the bits being sent home in disgrace!

International football might have become interesting again.

Going to see a friend I worked with in November in Spain..and Ill prob see Real/Atleticos grounds, but I will go see a home match for Rayo Vallecano...seen them when I went to Barcelona and they had a fairly noisy support, albeit they were the away team, so prefer to watch them to the big money teams. Plus the girl i Know from Madrid, her brother just happens to be a season ticket holder at Rayo...some co-incidence...so that settles it :raisehat:

I am going to Atletico Sevilla later this month. Although like you, I have a wee soft spot for Rayo. My mate over there is Hibs and Atletico daft. I have never been to the Santiago Bernabeau, it would be like taking the tour of tynecastle or the Hunnery for me.
