My son, who usually passes me off with a bottle of rum for my birthdday, unusually called me and asked if I would like to go see SLF at the Barrowlands on St Pats day in March. This is so unusual for him and for me, as I don't really listen to punk/new wave except for nights when I might have that rum :surp@ what is strange is I never knew he liked them, well I am still not sure he does, he probably only knows a couple of songs. What is weird to me is that the music back then was really for teens, mush like music for teens today. Though I gotta say SLF spoke a whole lotta sense. But weird that over 30 years later my son wants to go to a concert with me! That in itself I suppose is a huge compliment as most sons would be embarrassed to go out for a night with their dad. Mind you, he is 27 so hardly a baby. Which brings me to the next point, who still goes to these concerts? Is it a mix of young and old? What do they wear? Should I just kinda blend in by wearing black? I am way too sensible nowadays compared to back then. N"ow then" any commentrs bouncers, and is anyone else going?

Who's backing him? Is it Rod? :rascal:

It'll be mainly 40-50 somethings. Brilliant night - well busy. Wear something thin cos it'll be feckin roastin!

my laddies 29 and loves them we will be down the front

punks not dead its just got fatter and pogos less

SLF are still good live. I was filling in on bass for a mates band and was lucky enough to support them a few years ago. Nice guys too.

Nowt wrong with going to gigs with your dad either. My father is a '77 era punk and we ended up having very similar tastes (as a teen in the 90's most of my Nirvana, Green Day and Rancid albums sounded like his records from the 70's for the most part). In fact Devo at the Carling Academy in Glasgow was one of the best gigs I've ever been to and I was down the front pogoing away with my old man the whole time.

Bounce tour then :rascal: and you would even be able to have a drinky on the bus :worthy

Remember them playing the ABC in about 1982. They signed autographs in the Other Record shop on the Bridges in the afternoon and it was pandemonium. Great gig that night - afterwards I gave Ali McMordie a Hibs scarf which he wore.
