I despair.People trying alternative medacine instead of taking their insulin. Why do people fall for this bullshit that should have been dropped in the middle ages?

This immediately brought to mind the "You know when you've been Tangoed!" advert, which must have been 1991/92, as I was still here.

Buster Bloodvessel lookalike, painted head-to-foot in orange, slapping Tango drinkers about the chops as they took a swig of Tango. It got banned when kids started slapping each other in playgrounds.
Way before "happy slapping" was "a thing."

Did Butch Wilkins not do the slow motion replay commentary in that ad, or am I tripping?🤔

*Edit*
Apologies, I'm maybe trivialising a serious topic here.
(Just checked & Butch Wilkins did do the commentary. Way before he joined us.)

Just a question...but how did people survive before insulin was around?

Can't ever remember a case pre insulin of someone dying of diabetes.

Not saying anything...I like to ask questions, look up reasons, solutions.

Stop trolling. Insulin was widely available from the late 1920s and refined in the 1930s. So maybe that's why you can't remember.

And yes, people died of diabetes pre insulin.

How about doing your research and educating yourself?

Ryan do you believe all of medical science, which has led to dramatic increases in life expectancy, and continues to do so in the developing world, is just one big con?

I wonder if you get toothache a slap in the pus wid cure it? A pulled hammy, slap yer thighs?
Constipated?

Being serious, there is a lot of this quackery around.
Always has been.
It's annoying. Even Christopher Hitchens came close to losing his cool when discussing Billy Graham.
In a Western world where vulnerable and/or easily manipulated people opt for the comfort of an online echo chamber, in preference to a trip down the library for some informed research, this type of thing is likely to become more common😕...
... and it's not just on medical matters that folk prefer echo chambers🙄.

Anyway, here's the banned Tango ad

So did diabetes exist pre 1920?

I never heard of anyone dying of diabetes historically.

I mean I know that if you stop taking diabetes drugs...you generally die.

That's why it's quiet scary that they want to approve Ozempic for weight loss.

It's a drug that if you stop taking it...Your body has extremely serious issues in regard to you gut.

Can you name anyone in 20s or 30s or even slightly later that dies of Diabetes...cause they never took the drugs?

You answered that yourself. People die if they stop taking insulin. So guess what - they didn't stop taking it.
