One of the greatest actors of the last 40 years dies at 77 from pancreatic cancer...

So many great television and cinematic moments from John Hurt...I remember him playing Caligula in the
TV series I Claudius in the 70's. Just a fantastic versatile actor. Also from a personal point view..he once walked passed me in Grafton Street, Dublin in the late 90's when I was over there for a week-end. It was funny watching everyone recognising him !

RIP Sir John

Superb actor - I remember him in Midnight Express, Alien, 1984, Scandal, and many more...

He appeared in one of Harry Potter films.

Great actor in many great films. Alien and Midnight Exxpress being two of my all time favourites.

That said, one of my favourite roles of his was in V for Vendetta. Stole every scene he was in with a classic scenery chewing villain performance.

Fantastic role model for those of a Guntish persuasion in The Elephant Man.

What a fine, fine actor actor he was. As good as it gets really. RIP.

For me all these roles ring true, but the one that did it for me was his potrail of Quentan Crisp. It was a real moment for me growing up and uncertain of my sexuality. It showed a man confidant in his own skin who was willing to take on the world. It meant a great deal to me at the time.RIP John.:applause:

Now I regret not saying hello to him at Los Angeles airport about 15 years ago. Him and a male friend sat at the next table to us. I don't think anybody recognised him.
