With the generous support from the owners during the transfer window, the real test is whether or not SDG can weld what now looks like a really strong squad into one that plays confident aggressive attacking football and gets us on a fearless winning run to the end of the season.
There can be no excuses now.

I think it’s the recruitment department that is on trial as well

This is very reminiscent of the year we binned Murray and Stokes and brought in Rat and Maclaren.

The football department has clearly highlighting failings and how to resolve them, I’ve a feeling they’ve got it right.

In Passlack's video he mentions that Hibs are a good fit as they play a "5 back line" so looks like no change of formation any time soon. Will be interesting to see if the new faces can make it effective again.

Think we need to hit the ground running and Gray needs a tune oot the laddie Elding along with Suto assisting and contributing , we have the players and I don’t know how or who he’s going to play in what positions what with 6 new players , we have a few injured as well so when they’re back it’s going to be a bit of a headache for him

Pretty good headache to have IMHO. On the face of it, he’s brought in 6 physical players and offloaded 3 that lacked that physicality. By the time the next pre-season comes along- even with the loss of the 3 loanees- he should have a strong squad physically capable of overpowering most teams. If their mindset is right I think next season could be a really good one. In the meantime, he has the tools now to shape his team and still make a decent fist of this season.

I like 3-5-2 if it means plenty crosses going in. If he's doing that on one side and Beardy is at it on the other then great.

If they're just lumping it down the channels for Boyle or Youan to chase it's a problem.

Generous support? By selling a £6m striker and giving him a fraction of that back?

Agreed. The summer window was a mixed bag… the experienced/proven signings like Sallinger, McGrath, Barlaser and Hanley have generally done well. Mulligan has been a masterstroke.

Malky and co did not replace the attributes lost with Miller, Triantis and Myko, which has been a problem all season, leading to an imbalanced squad.

The gambles on younger players who haven’t played in Scotland is still yet to really yield results - Klidje and Chaiwa, for the money spent on them, have simply not produced anything like they should have by now. Players at level of investment should be able to hit the ground running, they haven’t.

The January window seems to be a course correction - Elding is worth a gamble, Suto and Passlack aren’t young gambles, the loan players look sensible short term additions.

He had generous support from the owners at the start of the season and the campaign has turned into a damp squib.

That's why I believe there can be no excuses from now on, starting tomorrow. If we continue to turn in lame performances, he has to go.

Aye the vultures will be circling for sure. Some appearing to be anxious for our hero to fail.
Just a few weeks ago we were 3 should have been 4 up against the gunts, and the stadium was chanting his name.
Then a couple of injuries and our talisman forward getting his head turned and suddenly SDG is on borrowed time.
Depressing 🥺

"And" how is that generously supporting SDG?
Levitt and Hoilett were surplus.
Klidge, regardless of reasons, was not getting games.
We have replaced these 3 with permanent signings.
Also taken on loanees in all probability to see us through the injuries sustained to various players.
And the books have to be balanced while this is going on.
What, or who, did you want?

Whats depressing is getting dumped out the Scottish Cup at the first hurdle by a midtable Championship club, whats depressing is being 18 points behind our city rivals and 7 points behind Motherwell a club on half our budget, whats depressing is blowing a fantastic opportunity for lucrative group stage European football. Our 150th year celebrations and the season is almost over by January.....thats what you call depressing

Like it or not, he needs to stop what looks like playing his pals. Boyle, for example, he can be mediocre for a couple of weeks and miss chances, but he's in the team unless injured [which I think is the reason we've put Klidje out on loan inasmuch as Boyle kept him out often unjustifiably]. Similarly, and perhaps to a lesser extent, Youan and now we'll doubtless see Newell play every week.

He, Gray, has to utilise the new lads and not just for the last 20 minutes of games.

Brings me back round to them not getting enough regular time on the park, and that's down to the manager, not the player. I disagree re Chaiwa though. When he gets time on the park, he brings a dynamism to the midfield as well as a goal threat.

Think chaiwa has scored one goal .

Players need to earn the right to play

Yep, they do, but Boyle gets to play every week regardless of how poorly he performs, as does Hanley. The manager looks set in his ways, and players can't earn a place unless they get the chance to do so. I appreciate he has only 1 goal to his name so far, but he has 1 goal in his limited appearances, so he is a goal threat in my opinion. He's not a striker.

It’s down to the manager to pick the best team to win any given game, if he’s looking at his options and doesn’t view a record signing as a good option, that’s a concern for the recruitment team rather than the manager.

Ultimately I think the club signed a player in Klidje who is completely unsuited to our style of play or the league in general, the fact the club weren’t pressurising the head coach to play our record signing says a lot about that too.

Chaiwa I’m not saying hasn’t got something, but he cost a fair bit of money and has found himself behind the three other midfielders signed in the same summer window. Mulligan, Barlaser and McGrath have established themselves better than Chaiwa has.

Shouldn't forget that the chanting stopped as we wobbled and nearly threw the game away, many felt because of SDG's defensive mind set and reluctance to freshen things up. Took a great save from Sallinger to avert what would have been a sickener.

Aye, I hear you. You canny wait for another change. A fuckin lee Johnson or Montgomery or Maloney.
What the fuck has SDG ever done for Hibs which would merit a bit loyalty.

His team selection tonight will be interesting and I think should be allowed to tweak if not right as we have so many new players. I hope he gets it right tonight so going into Hearts game he has an understanding of who works best and where.

Not getting a game before Barlaser, Mulligan and McGrath doesn't make you a bad player Zab. He wouldn't be taking Barlaser's spot for one because they aren't the same type of player. More likely vying for the positions held by McGrath and Mulligan, who are both outstanding. With the two of them injured, now is the chance to shine, but I'll bet a pound to a pigeon shit that it won't matter how well he performs, when these two are fit again, they will be automatic picks because that seems to be the SDG way.

One of the sticks he was getting beaten with was and I quote "not laying a glove on the old firm/hawrtz" - since we beat the savilles and had a right go at the Huns that will be put on the back burner, so it'll just be the cup defeats., Motherwell doing well with less money and hawrtz being top that will be used against him.

Believe it or not I'm really happy with the window especially the pedigree of the new signings just don't get the "been generous with SDG" chat.

It’s all too late. We’re out the cup and the highest we will finish is 5th.

It’s another season of what ifs. The only thing we can do is give Hearts a bloody nose and stop them from winning the title.
