Pretend Scottish Labour, pretend Scottish Tory, pretend Scottish LibDems, and pretend Scottish Reform were all eager to see independent scrutiny of SNP accounts, seemingly ignoring the fact that they, the SNP were victims of fraudulent activity.

Well. Possibly for the first time, Ross Greer played a blinder and had the vote amended to include scrutiny of all the Holyrood parties' accounts, and the vote passed, so now, of course, the spin on social media has started.

"The SNP has blocked scrutiny of their party accounts." Eh, no, they haven't, but it's now extended to include the parties that wanted the scrutiny in the first place, and they aren't happy.

They all band together like school kids to gang up on on the 1 party…. And don’t like it when they get treated in the same way they want to treat that person…. Welcome to the Scottish media who backs them all except the one…. Who’s not in the gang

Personally I dislike accounting secrecy around political parties full stop. I think anyone running for election needs to have their finances open to the public (or at least, the results of an audit open to the public) both as individuals and as organisations.

I'm pleased this has happened but nobody earns any credit for how we got here

Ross Greer was being "interviewed" by unionist shill Martin Geissler possibly yesterday morning, and MG kept banging on about how scrutiny of SNP accounts was important because if they can't run their own accounts, how can they be trusted to run a country.

Greer calmly explained to him that the ability to have cross-party scrutiny of accounts was a reserved matter and even if, as Labour initially wanted, Labour and AN other party would essentially run an audit and it was a political play to have a stick to beat the SNP with because Labour were fed up being humiliated at elections.

He then pointed out that his amendment would be for independent assessment of all party finances and MG dared to suggest that he was in cahoots with the SNP. Greer slapped him down again, and when Geissler continued to bang on about it, Greer asked him how it would be if Rangers' finances were scrutinised by the Celtic board. I wish he'd used Hearts and Hibs in the analogy because Geissler is a diet hun.

I’m trying to imagine Ross Greer “slapping anyone down” without it involving gimp masks and other accessories.

No pics are available thankfully of either scenario.

Personally I think the trigger for an enquiry is if public money has been involved. I don't think that's clear. Obviously SNP financing and accounting and has been, let's be generous, a disaster.

And Murrell and Greer go way back. Historically the Greens have been very accommodating of the SNP whenever they are in trouble. No doubt they will have extracted some deal for it.

But if SNP members are happy with how things are, along with non-SNP members who donated to the ring fenced fund that wasn't are content too, then I think that's it.

There are potential clouds on the horizon. The cash for seats allegations will either go away or be very serious indeed.

But the bottom line is there's a lot of political theatre here. And of course the SNP and Greens would be all over it if the boot was on the other foot.

But it does give fuel to the 'what are they hiding' fire. I guess that's seen as a price worth paying.

Id rather Politicians accounts were scrutinised.

Its bloody obvious they are corrupt to the core.

Why else would you put a wrecking ball through your entire country otherwise with the crazy Green agenda, woke agenda, and open borders madness.
