Can't remember which prog it was last night, but Dugdale, Sturgeon , Davidson & Rennie gave short interviews on the upcoming Holy rood election.

Kez ,Nic & Willie gave the usual stuff, but Ruthie said ....there has to be an effective opposition, that is what we're aiming for....

I suppose starting from such a lowly position, it is their only option . Think it's a bit on the ambitious side like......

Apart from my mates mum Winnie [RIP] but then you probably never met her. So I agree, Ruthie is the most likeable tory politician ever except Dub's mates mum

I do agree though, she comes across as a fun loving type that speaks her mind. I could stand having a pint in her company.

Dearest Ruthie changes her mind every five minutes. The Scottish tories are even more of a branch office than Scottish labour. An afterthought of a party and would be as effective in opposition as Kezia & co.

Neither SLAB or the Svottish tories can be anything but when their strings are pulled from Westminster and the good of the rest of UK takes precedence over what is good for Scotland. It's the enduring dichotomy that both parties are condemned by, and one of the main reasons the SNP are so effective in terms of gaining support.

They're never going to get close to power any decade soon so aiming to be an opposition while Labour is in disarray is probably a decent punt. If successful it could make those decades fewer!
