Shouldn't be "a thing" in Turkey, surely?
If countries in Asia can block gambling sites and individual US states can seemingly block gambling sites, Turkey ought to be able to manage it.

Turkish diaspora are widespread so what often happens is a player with inside info phones his family in England who can put the bets on.

It used to be the case that everyone at every club had to sign a waiver that they hadn’t placed a bet on any football regularly.

It baffles me that Tony Bloom might have got around that.

How do you get caught?

Easily

The gambling companies have sophisticated databases that flag up linked accounts

ie where two seemingly random individuals regularly make the same bets. Thats a massive red flag.

But what brings you to their attention - and as someone who has had most of their betting accounts shut down - is if you take their money. Every account is monitored for profitability, and you start taking money from the bookies they aren’t going to idly accept it.

If the players and officials were losing money to the bookies, the bookies wouldn’t say a word

Who bets on Turkish or Greek leagues?

Anyone who has even a minimum of experience in football betting knows that you just don't touch Turkey or Greece.

So, I would say that it's very easy to get caught in Greece or Turkey because it's only the players, coaches and referees doing all the betting there. ;)
