Phone help?

I am shite with technology. The missus phone stopped working the other day some issue with the lg g4 that is common apparently. Anyway wont load any further than the welcome to lg screen. Trying to get the pictures she has of the wee one off it as they are stored on internal memory. Phone wont turn on though and it seems i need to top to get access via laptop. Anyone know a way around this?

Sorry I can't help personally. Have you tried looking at YouTube for "How to fix it" videos?

Attempt a forced restart of the phone.
If performed correctly, a forced restart will not erase any information from the phone.

Press and hold the Power key for 30 seconds.
If the phone starts to power on, release the Power key.

If it turns on make sure its running the latest software

i don't know if this will work if you can't access them to begin with but have you tried switching on the option to store your photos in icloud. This may cost you a small monthly charge depending how much storage you need but would at least - if it works - create a safe copy. You could
then download again at some future point and get rid of the cloud cost.

Managed to get it on for 10 minutes and send the majority to my phone through WhatsApp before it happened again. Will try get it on for a bit in a while to get the rest. Then they can do whatever they want with it. Still under warranty so no issue.

If you plug it into your laptop with a usb cable does the laptop see it as a removable disc or anything ?
Sounds to me like it needs new software flashed onto it , a hard reset might do it but you'd lose all photos most likely

When I plug it in laptop picks it up but need to click file share on the phone to allow me access to files otherwise it just charges it. If I can get it on once more will get the rest and then just need to send it off to get fixed or get replacement.

Think I read its an issue with the motherboard in the g4 and is common.

Google Photos is unlimited and free if you use the high quality option,i use that for older photos and Icloud for my phone. It auto backs up so doesn't matter which device you use long term.

Sent it to o2 fixed but lost all files. Managed to get all the important things off it onto my phone.

Glad you got all you wanted off it. A word of note though, buy a decent phone next time.

I know. It's fucking LG g4 too was worth about £500. I'll stick with Sony myself.

I work for a firm who make silicon wafers,a company we supply asked for extra wafers even if they were rejects so stuff was taken from waste drums put thru a clean line and sent to the company who then supplied the resultant circuits to LG
