Not so much a chase but a procession as I remember.I was in a sports bar in America when it happened and the highway chase was showing live on all the banks of TV's.
Absolutely surreal.

yes. Kim’s father. If i remember wasnt one of his lawyers a Kardashian
Some arse, but.Never ‘got’ the Kardashian fad.
I was in Los Angeles a few years back, and there was a LED type sign up on a roof saying one of the Kardashian’s was currently in ‘pub x’ .
Couldn’t see the point at the time. Thought it was a ‘celeb’ type thing.
But now….
If you saw “Manchester Green / JFB /some other gadgie who’s a bit annoying * insert some other irritating twats name was in “x” pub, well…. Best avoided.
*no offence to other top blokes who take offence to my posts.
Particularly the ones younger than my sons actually are, who want to have a pagger. Grow up you fuckin twats.
I’m old enough to be your dad.
PM me a pic of your mum, just in case this is getting a bit Jeremy Kyeleish.

It was a harbinger of today’s racial politics. The jury made him not guilty not because he was not guilty, but because he was black.Robert Kardashian was a very good friend of OJ. If I remember rightly, Kardashian met OJ and possibly took a bag from OJ that may have contained evidence about the murder before OJ was arrested. At the trial, when the not guilty verdict was read out, Kardashian looked stunned that OJ got a not guilty verdict.
I think a catastrophic prosecution was a major contribution. It was a harbinger of today’s racial politics. The jury made him not guilty not because he was not guilty, but because he was black.
Perhaps. But not the decisive one as I recall.I think a catastrophic prosecution was a major contribution.
Might have been cos of his colour but could also just be down to him being an iconic American footballer of the time that he got the run of public opinion or at least public male opinion of the time from the jury.Perhaps. But not the decisive one as I recall.
It’s a long time ago but my recollection is Simpson’s legal team cleverly made it about race in a febrile environment (Rodney King, LA riots etc in preceding years). A heavily black jury reached a not guilty verdict in 8 minutes.Might have been cos of his colour but could also just be down to him being an iconic American footballer of the time that he got the run of public opinion or at least public male opinion of the time from the jury.
There's extensive commentary online about prosecution errors. The glove wasna catastrophe. Exposing Mark Furman as a racist all helped to sow doubt. So don't be too quick to pin it all on race. 'If it don't fit you must acquit' was a masterstroke. It’s a long time ago but my recollection is Simpson’s legal team cleverly made it about race in a febrile environment (Rodney King, LA riots etc in preceding years). Fair enough. I still reckon it was decisive but that's based on recalling my opinion at the time; all details have gone the way of mortal things lol. There's extensive commentary online about prosecution errors. My wife occasionally watches court tv.I remember watching a fair bit of his criminal trial live on Court TV when I was just a whippersnapper living at my parents house- back in the pre internet days . In fact we still only had 4 terrestrial channels....
Some of it was truly gripping, and at other times it was tediously dull.
But one thing I remember was his defence lawyer Barry Scheck was the kinda nippy wee terrier you'd want on your side.
And the Prosecutor Marcia Clark was as dull as a rainy day at Dens Park!
*He (OJ) was good in Naked Gun as well, though obviously at that point a teenage me had zero idea who he was.
Yup, your recollections are very much how I recall it. A total race war was brewing. He was innocent as far as the black american comminuty was concerned. Completely agree re your King/LA riots comment.Fair enough. I still reckon it was decisive but that's based on recalling my opinion at the time; all details have gone the way of mortal things lol.
Didn't he later come out with a book or TV show along the lines of "I didn't do it, but if I had done it I'd have done it like this" !

"If I did it" was the book wot he wrote.Fair enough. I still reckon it was decisive but that's based on recalling my opinion at the time; all details have gone the way of mortal things lol.

They never found the murder weapon. Cops thought it was OJ's laddies weapon that killed his missus but when they couldnae find it....A major part yes. Once the trial was set for Down Town LA, OJ was going to get a not guilty verdict before the opening statements were heard. We didn't know this when the trial started but then when you look back you realize what happened. Where the trial was held and the jury selection for starters. The trial was all theatre, going through the motions. The prosecution didn't pick up on that, they thought it was such a slam dunk case (and it was) they only had to dial it in. Simpson's own attorney, Robert Kardashian could hardly believe the not guilty verdict when it was read out in court. Found not guilty by a jury of his peers, lol.
Los Angeles was on high alert the day the verdict was due in case the verdict was guilty!
Gil Garcetti was the DA at the time and his useless twat of a son was the mayor of LA for a while. Two imbeciles.
When Norm MacDonald was on SNL he would regularly lampoon OJ Simpson.
Something like that. He may have just been removed from the weekend update segment and sent back to the writing team and then fired.Ah, the late great Norm.
Did he not eventually get binned from SNL for continuing to rip OJ after being told to desist by the TV network owner?

What a weird way things turn out. Non double murderer Norm taken far too soon and double murderer OJ lives to 76.
