#ClubTogether

Hibernian Supporters Limited ( HSL) are delighted to welcome on board our new Coaching team, Paul Heckingbottom and Robbie Stockdale.

Seen here completing their Application Forms, Paul and Robbie were absolutely delighted to support the cause. New Head Coach Paul said “I was delighted to meet the Directors of HSL and hear about the fantastic support from their Members. Robbie and I have received an incredibly warm welcome from everyone at the Club and we will be doing everything we can to move things forward. We are ordinary lads ourselves so we really appreciate the generosity shown by ordinary men, women and children who just want to help their Team.’’

Robbie was also delighted to add his support and commented “Paul and I have received a great reception and have been made to feel at home right from the start. We knew before coming to Scotland that funds are not the same as England and we are so impressed to see ordinary supporters digging into their own pockets to help improve the quality of player that we can bring in. I want to add my support to HSL and thank all Members in advance for helping the Club “.

HSL contributors have now invested almost £750,000 into this squad and this is a remarkable achievement for the numbers involved to date. Jim Adie, Chair of HSL added “ The generosity shown by our Members has been overwhelming and we cannot thank them enough. The reality however is that we will be unable to match the contributions being made by our nearest rivals unless we can convince our fellow supporters to join and help our Team. I hate the thought that Paul and Robbie won’t have the same resources available to them and would like to encourage those who have not already joined to consider doing so now. Of course, please only donate funds if you are in a position to do so. Let’s get right behind them.”

Good to see and hear, but I say again HSL needs to be completely rebranded and sold to the Hibs fans in a totally different way. Many fans think they give enough money to Hibs as it is, and quite a few will now be paying more for their season tickets for 2019/20. Basically what we need to do is tell it straight to the fans as follows.. "We will undoubtedly fall behind both Hearts and Aberdeen in the next few years unless we substantially increase revenues both from HSL and from outside investment". That's it in a nutshell. We cannot do anything as fans about the latter, apart from live in hope of some big financial backer coming in, but we can do something about HSL. We have to tell everyone and their dog that this is purely a fund raising exercise to go towards the player budget for the manager. Nothing else. Not "sporting success" as that just sounds too bland, not shares in the club, fan ownership or whatever. It has to be about increasing the player fund only in order for us to match Hearts and Aberdeen..the two clubs identical in size and stature to Hibs in the Scottish game and therefore our two biggest rivals in challenging the Old Firm. We cannot afford to fall behind those two clubs in the years head. We have to act now and give it the hard sell.

We agree with almost everything that you say and if you look at what we have been saying for some time it ticks every one of your boxes. The brutal facts are that we are already in a situation where we have less funds at our disposal than our two nearest rivals. Hearts have over 8000 ordinary supporters giving their Club an extra £140,000 per month. Aberdeen have over 6500 supporters giving their Manager huge amounts of additional funds to their Manager. We are already in real danger of falling behind. There are thousands of Hibs fans who are fully aware of HSL but who don't donate. That is of course their choice and we respect that. What we want to make sure doesn't happen is that we sleepwalk into a situation where it's almost impossible to catch up. Money can never guarantee success but I'm sure if you ask any manager what they need more of it's money. We have a great new Managerial Team at the Club, let's do everything that we can to help them. We often hear talk about ambition - only we the supporters can decide what ambition we have.

Would you like to hear from us more often or less often ?
That's an odd question? The implication is surely once every 3 months won't make any impact?

We appreciate that this is a Fans Forum and don't want to invade the space where supporters should be having friendly banter about all things Hibs. As our main focus is to raise money for our Manager we just don't ever want to pester supporters. Getting the balance right isn't always easy.

All of the money goes to the football dept. How the Manager wants to spend that is his decision but it is all about improving the product on the park. It could be transfer money or wages on a player etc.

standing on the brink of history
Good effort from the diehards who have kicked in £750,000 on top of their season tickets and away travel costs.
